I spent a day over the weekend watching classic movies, staring actors like Bob Hope and Jimmy Stewart. What a great way to spend a rainy Sunday. I thought what a drastic comparison this is to the way things are today. I can't be bothered or care what Hollywood has to say today. The old movies show love of America with patriotic Hollywood Heroes. Now, all we see from Hollywood is anti-american propaganda.

There was a day when we could be proud of many Hollywood producers and actors—when Hollywood’s actors and producers actually had something worthy to say. They were patriotic and performed selfless acts. They served our country in the military, entertained our troops, and supported our troops. They even left successful careers to serve in the military to defend America. These heroes, I admire. Tinsel town has since lost it's shine. Here are a few of my favorites. Who are your favorites?

(Mega-Movie Star when war broke out) Although he was beyond the draft age at the time the U.S. entered WW II, Clark Gable enlisted as a private in the AAF on Aug. 12, 1942 at Los Angeles. Capt. Gable returned to the U.S. in Oct. 1943 and was relieved from active duty as a major on Jun. 12, 1944.

James Stewart Entered the Army Air Force as a private and worked his way to the rank of Colonel. Stewart earned the Air Medal, the Distinguished Flying Cross, France's Croix de Guerre, and 7 Battle Stars during World War II. In peace time, Stewart continued to be an active member of the Air Force as a reservist, reaching the rank of Brigadier General before retiring in the late 1950s.

Bob Hope's commitment and dedication to the morale of America's servicemen and women is entertainment history, indeed, world history. His humor and wit was absolutely brilliant. A legend for all time.

I do not watch the network channels. Haven't for years. Old movies are my outlet. They are so wonderful, aren't they! Many of those stars had such class. They protected their images and didn't air their dirty laundry or paid the price at the box office.

I know I posted an English actress but if old movies are mentioned I cannot resist Scarlett ;).There were great patriots among actors when I was young.

OT..I see a second white throated sparrow feeding this morning..a relief. Just one lonely sparrow was a puzzle!
I notice they feed at soon after dawn and at dusk like cardinals do.
