Draft Rudy Giuliani For President Begins Radio Ads in Key States

Committee To Encourage Former New York Mayor To Run For President In 2008 Airs First Ads In Iowa & New Hampshire

(Chicago, IL) One year after its formation, Draft Rudy Giuliani for President announced today that it has begun airing radio ads in Iowa and New Hampshire encouraging Mayor Giuliani to run for president in 2008.

"With the mid-term elections now over, Americans are already thinking about 2008," said Draft Rudy Giuliani spokesman, Allen Fore. "Mayor Giuliani has a demonstrated record of success and is exactly the kind of leader that people are looking for right now."

The sixty-second spot focuses on Mayor Giuliani's heroism after the events of September 11, 2001, and on his ability to cut through partisan politics in a divided Washington. The script of the ad reads, in part:

At times of crisis, Americans look to their leaders for strength, hope, and leadership. Five years ago, Americans looked to our president first, but we also looked to another man to help guide us through the darkness, Mayor Rudolph Giuliani. He wasn't just the mayor of New York, he was America's mayor . . . Rudy Giuliani has shown us what it takes to lead in the toughest of circumstances.

As America begins to focus on who will be our next president, we want change. We want someone who will rise above partisan politics and get things done . . . Please join us in asking Rudy Giuliani to run for president of the United States. We need his steady hand and his steadfast leadership. Sign a petition to draft Rudy Giuliani for President at draftrudygiuliani.com. Draft Rudy Giuliani for President is a federal committee filed with the Federal Election Commission and cannot, by law, coordinate its efforts with Mayor Giuliani.

"This is an all-volunteer effort," added Fore. "The thousands of people who have signed our petition online at www.draftrudygiuliani.com have already shown us that there is strong support for a Giuliani candidacy. And we want to do everything we can to encourage Mayor Giuliani to run for president. American would be well-served by having Rudy Giuliani in the White House."

The mayor has stated publicly that he will make a final decision about a 2008 presidential bid either later this year or in early 2007. Just yesterday, it was announced that he has officially begun the process of exploring a run.

I would be considered part of the Christian right, and I'd vote for him. And so would the majority of Christians I know.

"I like the way all the Pro-Rudy people just brush off things like scandals, broken marriages, adultery, and his association with criminals and think the opposition and the voters will just forget all that just because he was mayor on 9-11."

His association with criminals? LOL. He locked many many criminal in jail during his time as an US attorney. Crime dropped like a rock falling in the sky when he was Mayor of NYC. As far as his broken marriages, thats between him, his wives, and God and nobody else. Besides, its not relevant as far as what kind of President he would make. I just love it when far right extremist make things up when the facts show the opposite and bring up things that are completely irrelevant and none of their business. Oh, by the way, Reagan got divorced once.

"RINO's don't fly !!!!"

Agreed, however, if Rudy wins the nod in the primaries, he'll probably win in a landslide. The primaries will be very interesting.

Good for you! Me too.

There has to be some reason Rudy Giuliani has a 70% approval rating from Republicans when no other candidate breaks 50%.

Rudy will bring in enough moderates, indys, and Reagan democrats that the "religious right" can stay home and it won't matter a stuff.

And then what? Bernie Kerik as Sec of Defense? Oh, Joy!

He had CANCER! What did you expect him to do... not get the cancer treated, run against her, win and then die? Or win and then have the cancer spread to other organs and die?

In an almost evenly divided electorate the elections of 2000, 2004 and 2006 have shown the NE and Midwest states turning increasingly and firmly blue.

MN, PA, MI, IL, WI, & NJ were once states that could flip Republican. Those days appear to be over.

IA, OH, MO, CO, NM and (gasp!) AZ appear to be sliding that way too.

Hillary would win every state Kerry won, and I guarantee she'd win Iowa. I live here. NM, CO and MO would be in great danger. OH a tossup.

The GOP has to stop this slide or they're thin margins of 2000 and 2004 will be distant memories, like Reagan's 49 state landslide.

Giuliani has said he'd govern from the right and he's not the type of politiician who makes empty promises.

He'd make it impossible for a Democrat to win if he could take NY's 31 electoral votes. But he'd be competitive in all the states listed above, maybe even CA, OR, and WA.

His "moderate" Republican label is great, because he's not a moderate. Let the media think he is because he's actually a Ronald Reagan conservative on taxes, Gerald Ford on spending, and an originalist on Supreme Court justices, supporting judges like Scalia, Roberts and Alito.

Rudy could take this big old blue state, CA. as well. He's probably the only Republican that could.

You never explain where that picture is from; you just post it.

It is the kind of thing that LIBERALS do. You must be SO proud of yourself.

Really, you might as well post pictures of Milton Berle, or Tony Curtis, or Jack Lemmon dressed as women.

Rudy was in a SHOW, an annual show that has been going on, for generations, which every mayor has been involved in. And these kinds of shows have a long history, in this country for CENTURIES!

Well then, if he wants the nomination, he better damn well state he is not anti 2nd Amendment, not pro-abortion and not pro gay marriage. Now how hard is that? If he does not do this soon, he is not going anywhere. Simple.

Many people in the South and Midwest love him.

And FYI...Rudy IS a fiscal conservative and VERY hard on crime and criminals, so many people will find common cause with his stances on those things.

The ones here, who claim that they would rather have a President Hillary than a President Giulliani sure want to lose and stay in that wilderness forever.

Hi alarm,

He's said he's an originalist on the constitution, his favorite justice is Scalia, and the appointments of Roberts and Aliton were excellent, a promise kept to the American people by Republicans.

On a practical basis, that's all anyone could ask for. Check the answers both Roberts and Alito gave on Roe v Wade, "settled law" etc., from ultra conservative appointees.
