"A liberal veto will be disasterous for the Rep party for years to come because that will be in conflict with its base."

It's obvious to me that the President, and many Republican Senators, don't give a damn whether what they do is in conflict with their base

The Democrats will make rules punishing business that hire illegals. They can then collect fines from businesses for hiring illegals and from business that discriminate and don't hire illegals. A perfect catch twenty two. Add in the trial lawyers who will get rich by suing businesses that don't hire someone who appears to be illegal but turns out to be a citizen.

The Dems will create a new head tax so that each illegal immigrant is counted along with citizens.

Or maybe they'll just impute a head tax based on a company's number of employees.

What if they start pushing for increasing the defense budget? What if they push to end Affirmative Action? What if they push for real Social Security reform? Real welfare reform? What if.......

Seems just as likely.

"They want to unionize the Illegals so bad they can taste it..."

Sure they do--AFSCME and other service unions are slobbering for amnesty for `upper tier' illegals as legal, dues-paying members.
Of course they will then have to be replaced, so a `virtual fence' (guaranteed to snare mamacitas in wheelchairs) will be needed to satisfy the middle-class "yahoos" (you and me) who will again be expected to pay the real overhead expenses for the next wave of cheap Mexican labor.
And in the years that follow, the Dems will be licking their chops over growing voter rolls. The Republican strategy is to alienate the white vote and capture the alien vote. They must be taking their shoes off at RNC to count.
2026 (AP) President Ernesto Screech renews his vow to accomplish comprehensive immigration reform in what remains of the United States.
More news at 11.

Well they do hate private business, unless the business is in their pocket, so this may be true.

BS.

What they WILL (actually) do is to take a hard stand against ANYBODY who tries to prevent illegals FROM voting.

This means nothing.

The gist of the article is that unions want employers to be forced to pay union wages.

IOW if you are not paying union wages you are guilty.

I think the democrats have taken too many trips to Germany.

This makes perfect sense to me. I admit that I haven't read the article word for word, however; the Dems can stick it to evil capitalists (Repubs) who are attempting to break the unions by hiring cheap labor. The Dems get a twofer, they keep AFL-CIO labor happy - and they don't alienate the illegal alien vote.

Yeah, and Xena's Guy might get that Lamborghini he wants for Christmas.

Not that either is at all likely . . . but they COULD, conceivably, possibly happen.

The Republicans, who did nothing when they were in power, should jump on any chance to solve the illegal immigration problem, whether a Democrat proposal or not.

Did you see the difference between the House & Senate immigration bills? The Senate filibuster is what created the difference. The Donks are NOT going to "solve" the illegal immigration problem in the way you'd like them to solve it, but you can be darn sure the news media is gonna give them tons of cover for what they do pass. Republicans will be labeled obstructionists if they block the amnesty coming at us.

Cities are all run by Donks, so you can bet your bottom dollar that any company contributing to the GOP will be on the hit list for selective enforcement. Big Donk contributors will get a pass.

I agree that the GOP isn't listening to its base... I sent a rather terse letter to my representatives explaining just that. And while the Democrats appear to champion the cause of the voter, their political DNA will win in the end. I have no confidence whatsoever that the Democrats are going to lift a finger against a group of people they view as future votes. They are compelled to pander to illegals... they can't help themselves because they are slaves to The Church of Political Correctness.

Nancy and her husband own a high-end resort in the Napa Valley, Auberge du Soleil; I would be surprised if they didn't have illegals working for them, this is of course, conjecture.
