Smith is over the top. I understand that Republicans in "blue states" sometimes have to make concessions in their rhetoric and voting records, but this goes beyond bowing to political reality into the realm of pandering.

Yup, this is political huckstering pure and simple.

I just lost whatever the rest of whatever respect I had for this guy.

The first bit of respect was lost for me when he expressed such sympathy for all the (possibly) illegal aliens he's hired in his food processing plants.

He said 80% of his workers were Mexican, and I don't understand how you can get such a high percentage of non-Anglos unless you were pretty sure a whole ton of 'em were illegally here.
