Prayer Request for a Dear Freeper [prayers needed for kayak - update in #1,145 ]
FRmail | 12-14-06 | Brad's Gramma

Posted on 12/14/2006 7:50:21 PM PST by Bradís Gramma

I received a FRmail tonight from Freeper kayak regarding a health issue that her doctors have discovered. Some of you, apparently, are already aware of this. I DO have her permission to put this thread up. She will not be on here to respond as she's still working and will be starting treatments.

Anyway, from kayak....Several weeks ago as part of my routine annual physical I had a chest x-ray. When it came back showing some suspicious shadows, the doc ordered a CT scan which also showed the shadows. So last week I had a bronchoscopy and got the results on Monday.

I have lung cancer. The good news is that of the 2 kinds I have the least aggressive kind and it can usually be removed surgically. The bad news is that because of the location of the cancer it can't be gotten to surgically without doing damage to parts I need.

So I'm facing a regimen of chemo and radiation probably. Monday I have an appointment with an oncologist to begin planning how we're going to attack this thing.

Please PLEASE pray for kayak!!!

Dear Lord God, our hearts are heavy tonight with this news from kayak. She is a dear lady who loves you with all of her heart. Thank you for giving her so VERY many prayer warriors, thank you for giving her a WONDERFUL husband who has been nothing but 100% supportive of her.

Lord, I pray for a "Logan Miracle". Lord, please heal her body. Please guide the medical personnel who will be helping her through this. Please give her YOUR peace. Peace that passes all understanding.

In Your Name,
Amen!

What an extraordinary offer but then you are an extraordinary person! Hubby has hired an assistant manager so he is devoting nearly full-time to my care ... and couldn't be more helpful ... strong and sensitive.

In the meantime, through the wonders of the internet and a wonderful office assistant, I am able to get my work done ... another blessing of thr Lord in this!

But I am greatly touched by your offer, Dear One!,

You are right in that it broke my heart not to be with my poppyseed yesterday but I knew the Lord was with her and that consoled me. Just talked with her and she sounds good ... is sore but doing well and is entranced with her new daughter ... ;-)

The wee Abbykin and I came home Thursday after her birth by c-section on Tuesday. She's a tiny smidgen of a thing, weighed just over six pounds when we left the hospital (my smallest baby yet), twenty inches long. She has a head full of dark hair that shows signs of being curly later on, like her two year-old sister's is. She has my husband's mouth and my nose, and seems to be a pretty blend of each of us. She's a very placid baby and, as I suspected before she was born, very much a night owl. She's fine and healthy, and I'm doing pretty well. I'm not comfy posting pics of her here for general public consumption, but for those of you with whom I've had off-board contact, I'd be happy to share a picture or two of her if you'll email me (or even freepmail me).

Word on the street is that, depending on how things go with Mama's treatment this coming week, she and Daddy will be popping up for a visit with their new grandbaby next weekend. Hey, prayers that she is able to safely and comfortably make that trip would be greatly appreciated - I would sure love to see my mama.

Being a grandmother myself (in fact, I just got home from my youngest granddaughter's 2nd Birthday party)...I am SURE that kayak will feel a LOT better, once she holds little Abby the first time.

Congratulations to you and your family, poppy...prayers and best wishes for all of you.

Kay...prayers that you will make that trip next weekend...what a wonderful trip to look forward to.

God Bless you all...

Late "afternoon" *prayers" for our kayak and her poppyseed and her new babe ...

I stay quiet about my personal life, most times .... the last five years have been heartbreaking beyond measure .... truly beyond any measure I could have imagined ....

But lately ... certain events ... certain people, I have met at "random" ... are pulling at me ... making me think tomorrow's not so bad ... I've a young fellow across the street who knows how to fix my truck, and he's doing it because he "worries" about me .... Old Soul likes him .... which is all I need to know ...

I am rambling, here .... it's just I see, clearly, God's Hand in my life .... when I wondered if I was too low on the list .... I am learning he has no list .... I wanted these miracles earlier .... but they were graced to me in His time ... still, they are not Ka-Boom things ... but gentle reminders of the everlasting gift, which is life .... where it takes us ... or for so long ... our duty .... not only to our Lord ... but to those around us is to rejoice .... and embrace that we are here, now ....

Hi dear one... and you've been in our thoughts and hearts for those long years. We've worried and prayed about you and so pleased and happy that you are posting again.

Thanks so much for sharing your heartfelt thoughts, you do it in such a wonderful way.

"I will love thee, O Lord, my strength. The Lord is my rock, and my strength, in whom I will trust; my shield, and the horn of my salvation and my high tower. I will call upon the Lord, who is worthy to be praised;

...as for God, his way is perfect; the word of the Lord is proved; he is a shield to all those who trust in him. For who is God save the Lord? Or who is a rock, save our God? It is God who girdeth me with strength, and maketh my way perfect" Psalm 18:1-3, 30-32.

Keep looking up!!

Safely home from a wonderful weekend .... the new baby is just perfect! Poppyseed is doing great and is rightfully quite proud of her newest offspring! Not that a Grandma is prejudiced ... :-)

Also, I had my last radiation treatment today so now can work on regaining some strength before chemo starts.

.... Just me again ... late afternoon *prayers* to our dear kayak ... for wisdom and patience and peace ... courage, too ....

Okay ... my sister broke her ankle last month and today I took her to several places for treatment, back to her home ... got her settled ... she handed me a grocery list and off I went, in her car.

Parked at the store ... I had my reading glasses on to see what was on the list and .... ka-BOOM ... a very old fellow plowed in to me ... and the air bag deployed and my glasses scrunched and now I look like I am a street fighter who lost round one.

Meanwhile ... I was so worried about the old fellow ... he got out of his car as I got out on mine and he was as white as could be ... trembling and shaking ...

"I'm okay, really, it could have been so much worse." I said, even as blood was running down my face ...

"You are NOT! You are HURT! I DID this!"

Well, yes, he did ... but a stroke is not in order, here.

Anyway ... I made him sit on the curb and put his head between his knees until the police came.

Old souls ... he maybe should not be driving anymore, but leaving control forever and forever being without control ... I don't know ... 'tis tough ... with God's Grace he has lived this long ... I know it is up to Him ... I felt so sorry for him ...

We can all feel so fragile, in those moments least expected ... not anticipated ... never in our plans ... you know what comes next ...

We

plan

He

decides ....

I can't even imagine 9 inches of snow. That's what happens when you live in CA for umpteen million years.

Seeing the pictures in the paper of people with three story homes snowblowing their roof and the snow up to the second story windows is almost scary. Hope it all stops soon. We need AlGore to send us a little of that Global Warming.

Kay, I pray that your strength returns to you shortly and that your chemo is a breeze. You are on my mind and in my heart and prayers.

Had a great weekend after a rough week ... :-)

Had a lot of nausea during the week that has finally ceased. Boychild and his family came for the weekend and it was a great visit. We celebrated his birthday and mine with cake granddaughter (age 30 months) helped prepare ... :-)

Grandaughter is just precious -- beautiful and smart -- no prejudice there ... ;-)

DIL looks like she is 10 1/2 months pregnant ... supposedly she has another month to go but I don't see her making it that long. We're are quite eager for arrival of Grandchild #6 and Grandson #2.

Will be seeing medical oncologist on Monday, expecting to get details of chemo treatments starting within a couple of weeks.

Still praising the Lord for each day of life and breath!
