Posted on 12/14/2006 7:50:21 PM PST by Bradís Gramma
I received a FRmail tonight from Freeper kayak regarding a health issue that her doctors have discovered. Some of you, apparently, are already aware of this. I DO have her permission to put this thread up. She will not be on here to respond as she's still working and will be starting treatments.
Anyway, from kayak....Several weeks ago as part of my routine annual physical I had a chest x-ray. When it came back showing some suspicious shadows, the doc ordered a CT scan which also showed the shadows. So last week I had a bronchoscopy and got the results on Monday.
I have lung cancer. The good news is that of the 2 kinds I have the least aggressive kind and it can usually be removed surgically. The bad news is that because of the location of the cancer it can't be gotten to surgically without doing damage to parts I need.
So I'm facing a regimen of chemo and radiation probably. Monday I have an appointment with an oncologist to begin planning how we're going to attack this thing.
Please PLEASE pray for kayak!!!
Dear Lord God, our hearts are heavy tonight with this news from kayak. She is a dear lady who loves you with all of her heart. Thank you for giving her so VERY many prayer warriors, thank you for giving her a WONDERFUL husband who has been nothing but 100% supportive of her.
Lord, I pray for a "Logan Miracle". Lord, please heal her body. Please guide the medical personnel who will be helping her through this. Please give her YOUR peace. Peace that passes all understanding.
In Your Name,
Thank you for the update!
Glad to hear of your special visit..and specially made CAKE!:-)
Sending you (((HUGS))) and prayers from WA State!
Prayers for the family
Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, heal our friend and thier families this day.
I know I haven't been around much, but, you are in my prayers a lot.
God bless you Kay. So glad you were able to enjoy your children and that you had a great weekend. Prayers continuing for you.
It's always great to have family around, especially when you're feeling better. I offer my prayers for a good week to come.
God bless you.
poppyseed and her family came to visit this past weekend. It was good to see them all again. The newest member of the family is such a good baby -- hardly ever cries and only when hungry or needing a diaper change. The older kids (ages 7 & 8) were their sweet selves and were very helpful, especially with the 2 year old. It was a very good weekend and we praise the Lord for this time together.
How wonderful that you got to spend the weekend with them. You sound like you have a wonderful family, kay..
I keep you in my thoughts and prayers...how are you feeling?
Are you feeling well? Any specific prayer needs for you?
I'm feeling pretty good under the circumstances. The combination of brain surgery, steroids, and radiation has left me weak and badly swollen in places. The Jabba the Hut look from my swollen neck is not very flattering. Every time I try to come off the steroids, I get nauseated and yet the meds are probably the main source of the swelling and weakness ... a real Catch 22.
I will put you on our Parish Prayer list for successful chemo!
Please know you are in our thoughts.
God is faithful!
Hear our prayer, O LORD, for your dear child, Kay, and release her from the need for the steroids. In the Name of Jesus, who is the Christ, Amen!
PRAYERS FOR MY DEAR SISTER CHRISTIAN PATRIOT!!
Kayak, you are in my prayers daily! Be strong in the Lord!
Bless your heart.
I do know what steroids can do to the body...sometimes you wonder if the cure is worth it, right?? LOL
Seriously, my DIL is having to take steroids for a breathing problem she is having...and she says she feels better, but her jeans are getting tight..and she is debating if she wants to keep taking the medicine.
In your case...I would definitely NOT worry about a swollen neck...that will go away soon, I just pray that it happens soon.
Don't over do it...be kind to yourself, because you are worth it.
Prayers for you my FRiend...
Good evening, Kay. Prayers with you that your healing continues and gratitude that you and your family are doing well and able to enjoy one another. :-)
Now if it would just keep warming up! ;-)
Psalm 22:24 For He has not despised nor abhorred the affliction of the afflicted; Nor has He hidden His face from him; But when he cried to Him for help, He heard.
Isaiah 63:9 In all their affliction He was afflicted, And the angel of His presence saved them; In His love and in His mercy He redeemed them, And He lifted them and carried them all the days of old.
Continuing to pray for your full healing. Bless you.
I miss your beautiful prayers on the Pray for President Bush thread. You are in my prayers each day and I am confident that the Lord is providing for you and that He is strengthening you in many ways. It's wonderful that you could spend a little interlude with your family and celebrate the precious moments of life. May He continue to supply everything you need and may you enjoy certain victory and good health in Jesus Christ our Savior.
Hi everybody -
Mama's in the hospital again. The swelling she was experiencing was due to pressure on the vena cava by the tumor on her lung, and she was beginning to feel, from the pressure of the swelling, some constriction in her breathing. She and Daddy went to the hospital to have this seen to. She's on some meds and the swelling in her neck and face have gone down some; she'll probably be released tomorrow during the day.
If y'all could say some especially big prayers for her, I'd appreciate it. This hasn't been a great week for her, anyway, and then this new thing cropping up - she could really stand some BIG prayers on her behalf. Thanks and love to all of you.
Prayers are on the way. I haven't ceased to pray for her daily.
You also are in my prayers as you minister to your mom and your new baby.
When I saw it was you who was pinging me, poppyseed...I was so afraid to even look, to be honest with you.
I have kay in my heart all the time, and pray like crazy for her.
I am so sorry to hear about her bad week, and now this...
Okay, I will send some heavy duty prayers up for her..and for you, and your family, that God can bring you comfort and strength as you wait for your Mom to get better.
God Bless and keep kay and her family...
Am continuing to pray for your mom. Thanks for letting us know of this event. We're thankful that you keep us alert as to her condition.
May the Lord bless her, keep her, and strengthen her for the journey ahead.
... and we continue to pray for you as well.
(And including your whole family in my prayers).
Thanks for letting us know, poppyseed!
I knew there had to be a reason for checking FR today, and sure enough --- MORE PRAYERS are needed and on their way.
Dear Lord, please heal our Kay.
Continuing to pray for healing and happiness!
Prayers up for your mom--and all of you!
Prayers up for your healing and health, too!
Sending prayers for dear Kay .. so sorry to hear of a setback .. may Our Dear Lord comfort you all and bring Momma the healing she needs.
Continued prayer BUMP
Prayers continuing! Any more recent update?
Dear sweet kayak I'm praying that Jesus will strengthen and bring healing to your body and make it whole again.
poppyseed, I'm also praying that the Lord will comfort and encourage your heart and the rest of the family's. God is still on His throne, and King Jesus is still mighty with healing in His hands....I'm paying that Jesus will touch your sweet mama just now in his matchless name.
((Hugs)) and continuing prayers,
Went to see medical oncologist today. Secon opinion we got on Tuesday persuaded him do do a course of chemo beginning on Monday.
Please pray that the treatments will not weaken me to the point that they are doing more harm than good.
We continue to praise the Lord for each day of life and breath.
May God be your strength as you go through these difficult days.
He is faithful, dear friend! And I know that you are well aware of this blessed fact!
Thank you for keeping us posted, so that our prayers can be more specific for you.
Hi Dear Kay:
Thanks for the update. Know you are trusting in the Lord and so are we. We continue to uphold you in prayer, asking our gracious God to bring healing and give you grace, peace and comfort in these difficult days.
Oh that you might be well again!
Kayak - I've been there. It wasn't too bad, and so far, the results have been spectacular!
I'll pray for you.

May God's healing touch and His infinite love comfort you kayak. I pray that the Holy Spirit be always with you through this time of illness. I ask God to be with your family as well and to keep their hearts and minds full of hope and His love. I pray all these things in the name of our blessed Jesus, Amen.
Prayers sent, old friend.
Prayers continue for you, Kay. Hang in there...you've got a lot of us rooting for you.

Thinking of you and sending a (((HUG)))
Stiff upper lip. You are so brave. I believe in the glass half full rather than half empty philosophy. Therefore I have full faith you will slowly but surely get better. Keep up the fight!
