'Only military action can stop Iran'

In a dramatic conclusion concerning the future of the state of Israel, the latest edition of the Middle East Strategic Balance, compiled by the Jaffe Center for Strategic Studies (JCSS) and released to the public on Thursday, calls for military action to stop Iran's nuclear program.

Prepared annually by JCSS at Tel Aviv University, the Middle East Strategic Balance provides an authoritative and indispensable guide to strategic developments and military capabilities in the Middle East by offering a comprehensive, insightful assessment of the complex strategic environment of the Middle East. The report is considered something of a bible for military analysts who follow developments in the region.

The 2005-2006 edition was compiled by former IAF Intelligence officer Yiftah Shapir and Brig.-Gen. (ret.) Zvi Shatuber. Shatuber is a former ambassador to the United Kingdom and was a member of Israeli delegations to peace talks with Syria and the Palestinians.

"Our conclusion is that without military action you won't be able to stop Iran," Shtauber told The Jerusalem Post Thursday.

The United Nations Security Council is set to vote Friday on a sanctions resolution against Iran, which has been revised in response to Russian objections. The latest draft, if approved, would order all countries to ban the supply of specified materials and technology that could contribute to Iran's nuclear and missile programs. The proposed sanctions would also include freezing the assets of a list of companies and individuals involved in the country's nuclear and missile programs.

Despite the impending vote and increased diplomatic action, Shtauber said he believed it was too late for sanctions. "There is no longer a possibility for effective sanctions to stop Iran," he said.

Shapir recently told the Post that Israel has the military capability to destroy at least part of Iran's nuclear installations to the point that it would be possible to delay Iran's acquisition of nuclear weapons.

Earlier in the week, Mossad chief Meir Dagan said that Iran had recently increased efforts to enrich nuclear fuel. Dagan estimated that Iran would be able to begin building a nuclear bomb by 2009.

"There is no longer a possibility for effective sanctions to stop Iran,"

We knew this, it's time for diplomacy by other means.

A great Conservative philosopher once said, "Where there is no alternative there is no problem." It's time to put the angst and the hand wringing behind us and plan the right military actions that assure Iran doesn't get nuclear weapons.

Of course,
Bypass Baghdad and start cross boarder action against Iran.
We're in the Middleeast for our interests not the Iraquis.

Starting a revolution by attacking their C&C and Security forces could cause enough disruption to allow seizing/destroying all Iran's nuclear assets with less risk.

Military action on Iran? Okay good. Then it's time for the Libs to ante-up. Come on you Marxist patriots, let's get with the program and show us how it's done. Meanwhile, we'll bring the REAL soldiers, sailors, Marines, airmen home to help us fight in the streets.

This time let the Euro trash stop the Iranians. They are the ones withing range of the Iranian missiles. Just our way of saying "Thanks for your support in the initial stages of Afghanistan and in Iraq."

I've said right along that a real shot at "peace" in Iraq is predicated on the invasion and overthrow of the scumbags in Iran and Syria who are not only supporting terrorists in Iraq but Lebanon,Palestine and other parts of the world. Until this garbage is hung out to dry there will be strong terrorist activity in the Middle East and the rest of the world !!!

We should turn the tables on them and support rebels in their countries. But, if necessary, we should bomb their military infrastructure.

How does Israel propose to stop Iran unless they decide to use "unconvential" weapons.

I don't know. I don't see how they could mount a sustained air campaign, but I hope they can.

Yeah, that's going to happen. His plan is to screw things up, not help, as I'm sure you know.

It's a fact that the capitol of Syria is the oldest continuously occupied city in the world. My apologies to China, which probably has many older cities. One of the oldest known synagogues is located in Damascus. They also found the oldest copy of the Bible in one of it's run down/burned down churches. Half of all the arabs who have immigrated to the US are actually christians who fled the increasingly genocidal jihadists who live there.

Several times in the Bible we are told that "Damascus will become a ruinous heap, never to be inhabited again" Now I don't know that "never occupied anymore" is due to radioactivity,or biological agents, gas etc,,, but something makes neither man nor beast seek shelter in that city.

We are told that we are living in days which resemble the days of Noah. Days where we are warned "Do not harm the wine or the oil" Since most all nations in the ME seem to be floating in oil, where else would be logical target to strike if we wanted the muslim world's attention, but did not want to blow up the oil production facilities we need?

Finally, Damascus has been a terrorist's haven from most all despicable foreign governments doing dirty work worldwide. With so-dam-mad "the pitiful" out of his spider hole in Iraq and all set to swing from a rope soon, there are few places for a Sunni guy to party these days.

These are just my incoherant ramblings, but I personally think that if GWB intends to remain and or become an American hero, he will hit them so damn hard the entire arab world will instantly understand. Allah ain't shit folks, we just let an arab capitol get melted by an American nuke.

The arab world has no tradition of civil rights, voting rights, equal rights, gay rights; HaHaHa! "habeas corpus" is the mass grave where your family was raped, brutalized and burned to death by the army or the local police for entertainment sake!

Pan-arabia "the caliphate" however does know "HAMMA RULES" ask anybody that can read ( about 10%) in any fly infested hellhole arab country you pick and they will tell you all about Hamma, a Syrian city of 100,000 that was totally destroyed in 1980's by the Syrian army, because of terrorist activity by "The Muslim Brotherhood" the pioneering movement behind the present fanatics.

Please Mr. President bitch slap Damascus so hard that they too will remember. Hell they'll be too afraid to even look in the direction of the stick.

Unless I'm misreading the current state of affairs entirely, GWB has a date with destiny. If he surrenders our nation to Mexico and suddenly lets 25 million people here illegally become voters, he had better give his new citizens a country that doesn't take any crap from Mexico City,or the "fanatics" in the ME.

I'll guarantee that if America laid down the "law" in Damascus there would no longer be any talk of growing up as a Mexican-American, Black-American, Indian-American etc,,, Just give us one country we can be proud of because she's strong and she fights to protect freedom loving people worldwide.

You call that Hamma business cold blooded Mr. Assad, I'll show you what a righteous Western democracy can play in the sandbox like Mister! I'm so tired of being called the "Big Satan" for all these long years,I need to step into my character before I lose the role.

By the way Muhammad, Bow down and face Washington DC when you say that Buddy!
