2000 out of 6-7000 - about 30% rate. Extremely good ratio. Best be attributed to the utter lack of battlefileld medicine.

Dead militants are no longer militant.

Obviously I have hit on the key to the whole problem.

I always thought the term "Ethiopian army" was some kinda joke. Maybe not?

They don't have the disadvantage of having a nation of Liberal Hand Wringers screwing up their decision making process.

I call this a good start...

And how did they accomplish this? Not with embedded journalists, nor carping political hacks back home nor ridiculously restrictive rules of engagement.

"What is best in life?" To crush the jihadists, to drive their minions before you and to hear the lamentations of their mullahs1 allahu fubar!

Careful there, Ethiopia is about 45-50% Muslim, only about a 35-40% Christian, and the rest are "animist". The long time Royal Family was IIRC Christian. A few decades ago there was a "lost tribe of Israel", who where flown out on C-130s to Israel. If you see a Black Israeli soldier, and if you see many photos of IDF troops, you will, that's where he or his ancestors came from.

"Fox News (I think that's where I saw it) says we have been training the Ethopians."

Perhaps the Ethiopians should be training our soldiers...and state dept.

Fifteen or twenty years ago, that term was a joke. But the Ethiopian Army and Air Force are now among the best in their neck of the woods.

Only Egypt, Libya, and South Africa have organized armies larger than Ethiopia's (although quality is another matter) and the Ethiopian Air Force is second only to Egypt's in the whole of Africa (Libya has higher numbers, but the combat readiness of many of their aircraft is highly questionable).

I wonder if anyone in the Democratic Party is figuring out how to defeat Islamofascism yet??

Rest assured - the US did not give a "Green Light" on this (if you know what I mean).

You got that right! Especially when the U.S. comes out and tells Ethiopia to act with restraint. Really, how dedicated is the U.S. to eliminating the problem Islamists? Sounds to me like "restraint" is what our military has been having to deal with from Washington. Sad.

We gave Ethiopia the "tools" to get it done.

(The US "outsourced". We are much to bureaucratic to strike this decisively...)

They delivered it with MiG aircraft. But we may have indeed paid for the bombs and bullets. Glad to see that our contingent in Djibouti is making such a contribution. They also launched the Predator drones that got the planner of the Cole attack. Djibouti is AKA the Armpit of the World. Or so says a Marine who was my wife's student before being activated and sent there for about a year.

I was a bit taken aback when I read the other day about the Ethiopian fighter jets that went into the fray.
