President Bush sent his regrets

How does this writer know that President Bush was even invited. Did he attend this rotunda ceremony for President Reagan?

I only watched C-Span for 1 minute today (checking to see if they were replaying last night's arrival) and caught the yellow underline and reading of the insulting words about biking and cutting cedar. I really hate that W Journal part of C-span.

This is really unreal. Even Fox News was reporting a few days ago that "The President would not be attending the funeral". Despicable liars, the lot of them.

The SHOULD know better then to report that BS

Pelosi should be ashamed of herself for not attending the service.

So should President Bush.

I agree wholeheartedly. Sensenbrenner got it right. He said, "When you're in an official position, it's one of the things that's the right thing to do."

Absolutely right... what surprises me is how quickly FReepers strike the bait.

FReepers should know better also

The Rotanda service is not attended by the President. He will attend and speak at the National Cathedral on Tuesday. As already reported by the media and in full expectation of the Ford family.

I heard he would deliver the eulogy. I am glad he will be there.

I agree. I brought that up because I thought that wording ( "biking and cutting cedar") was merely another sick attempt to callously screw the President by the old anti-American media.

The socialist/Marxist/liberal media is the most destructive, relentless, and ruthless enemy of this Republic.

Ford along with liberal Bob Woodward did'nt help matters much by making comments to trash president Bush!Other comments were also made against Cheney,H.W.Bush,Reagan,Kissenger and others.

Upon the coffin's arrival at the Rotunda of the U.S. Capitol a short service (the official "state funeral") is given with members of Congress present.

The above is the entire statement about the rotunda state funeral from Wikipedia. Notice their quotes about the title, implying that it is not the main event. I do not have their source.

VP Cheney (former member of Congress) gave the eulogy at Reagan's funeral also. I found an internet copy of the Nixon state funeral eulogy. It didn't even mention who gave it. I do not think that this ceremony is meant for the sitting president.

Today's news media is not in the business of informing the public, but of propaganda for the DNC. They will use any excuse, even such a time of mourning, to bash a most refined and considerate man, President Bush.

The Ford family should have used better timing judgment IMHO.

That's as bad saying the Kennedy Family should have used better timing judgment when JFK was shoot because it interrupted people Thanksgiving Holiday plans

Of course he will be there. And I am sure that his eulogy will be proper and fitting.

They did! --- (riding a bike and cutting cedar)

One more time, if you do not mind.

You are totally correct. They never stop.

"This was NOT a state funeral; that will be on Tuesday, and President Bush will be speaking. More than likely, the Clintons, Pelosi, etc., will also be there. Saturday night was set aside as a time for a few of President Ford's friends and former associates to eulogize him. In case no one noticed, the place was packed..."

Thank you for breaking it down for those from RioLinda...some people just can't read! (ninnies) Half the posters on this thread sound like Emily Latilla."Oh, never mind!"

Yes, how inconsiderate of President Ford to die at an inconvenient time, during the holidays.
