Prayer Request
Self ^ | 05 January 2007 | mkjessup

Posted on 01/05/2007 6:55:11 PM PST by mkjessup

My FRiends, I would be very grateful for your prayers in behalf of my Dad whose health has taken a turn for the worse right after Thanksgiving, and even more so in the past few days. Dad is 81, a veteran of World War II in the Pacific Theatre, he served as a munitions expert, Browning Automatic rifleman, and finally as a medical corpsman before being wounded and sent home. He continued to serve our Nation in the Department of the Army his entire working career. He has been the finest Dad I could ask for and my life has been blessed by being his son. I have asked God what I believe my Dad would want me to ask, which is that God's Will be done. My own human desires and needs want to see my Dad restored completely to health and bounce out of his hospital bed, which would honestly require a miracle at this point. Dad is quite frankly suffering from old age, injured hip (did not require surgery), kidney infection, loss of appetite, one moment completely lucid, next moment, not quite so good. My Mom is holding up well all things considered, she and my Dad have been inseperable and happily married 53 years last month, I wish for them many more on this Earth, if that is part of God's Plan. I thank you and as my Dad would say, 'May the Lord be with you'.

Best Regards,

MKJ

How heartwarming - to hear such sweet words about your father and mother. I know that I wanted my father to stay with me when it was his time to leave us. I sat by him and reminisced stories about our special times not sure if he could even hear me. We never know what will happen MKJessup, but I pray that the time you have with him is sweet even though this is very hard for you. I pray that Lord will restore his health, and at least keep him comfortable as possible. May the Lord comfort your hearts during this difficult time. God bless you.

mjkessup, My Dad, a Scottish lad...a Mechant Marine man who was D-20. You were considered D-Day service within 60 days of serving then. He was anchored right outside of Utah Beach. My Dad, My Hero..passed away 1 day before he and my Mom's 58th wedding anniversary. A father of 11, grandfather of 20, great grandfather of six...we miss him so much. I pray for your family. He passed two years ago this March and I look at and kiss my favorite picture of him daily as if I was kissing his bald head in person. God Bless your family and I am praying that your dear Dad is surrounded by your ever-loving devotion to him because he surely is so deserving! God Bless and sleep well.

Prayers coming, MKJ. I know how painful all this is because I lost my Navy dad in 1976. Sometimes it feels like yesterday...

Sounds like many have shared in the love, kindness and courage of your Father. I wish him 'God speed' as his life's journey continues to unfold. . .and be it here or 'there'. . .God Bless all who by their love, will always be with him.
