I saw that detonation. I don't understand something. If they suspect that there is C4, and C4 is an extremely dangerous explosive, why would they intentionally detonate it?

The way the news has been over the last couple of days, it makes me wonder if congress decided they needed to be away from the capitol for a reason other than football.
Hmmm . . . then I guess it's a good thing I get to go home in about a half hour. Fortunately for me, my house is just outside the fallout radius of DC.
To: visualops
The birds were most likely killed on purpose.
Experts at the Cornell Lab of Ornithology and the National Audubon Society said the most likely cause was a deliberate poisoning of the troublesome grackles, which is more common than people think. It's also legal, with local permits, said Greg Butcher, director of bird conservation at the Audubon in Washington.

Maybe, but it's an alarming thing for them to do. The passengers must have the runs, no norovirus required!

If the dead birds were Grackles, someone may have sprayed them last night with soapy water. The soap removes the oils from the feathers and the scheduled cold night would kill them.
To: Rutles4Ever
C-4 residue was on the pallet? Where did the bulk of it go then? Is this incidental residue from some other container?Good questions!

They're crazy if they let that ship leave as scheduled!
I wonder how many young Muslim men are on board.

Didn't look like much of an explosion - a false alarm again?

Better than using poison on the crackling grackles.

If what I just heard is correct, the explosion was only to open up the packaging. Once that is done, the cameras on the robot can get a better look at what is inside that package.

How about this:
There are lots of "weird" things going on the last couple days.
The "New" Congress just convened.
Perhaps Osama et al are just acting on their knowledge that weakness now reigns?

Speaking of the fallout radius of DC - did you see the story the other day about the various agencies in DC that are moving many of their employees out of the fallout radius? The FBI and others are relocating a lot of their employees to some place in Virginia about 75 miles from DC. It's causing a housing boom, well a mini-boom.
To: BonnieJ
With friends in Austin I hope this is just a sort of bizarre phenomenon and not something else.

I wish they'd adjourn more.

I was in downtown San Antonio a few weeks ago. Hundreds of birds were flying where ever I went. I thought they were pretty. They were loud though and I could see businesses and hotels having concerns.

per FOX..this was much ado about nothing..Fox said that? I switched to (GAG ME) MSNBC and they are still covering it. The detonation was only to open the package. From what I understand, they still do not know yet was is inside that package. The robot will determine it.

Your guess is as good as mine. Especially with the cruise ship still docked right next to the (supposed) explosive site.
But you're totally right. This package was heavy if I recall correctly (correct me if I'm wrong, folks, as I'm at work right now and can't flip through the earlier posts) so that means a good amount of C4.
You're right. From what I've seen and read it just doesn't make sense. Then again, I'm not a member of the bomb squad. (lol)

You have to wonder what message is conveyed when our congress takes a day off of work for a football game...which is not even being played until tonight.
However, maybe the dems are attempting to garner favor with Ohio and Florida...haven't those two states been in the news over the past few years for other reasons?? I guess my "conspiracy thinking" is on overdrive...

I posted this comment after the one you read. "If what I just heard is correct, the explosion was only to open up the packaging. Once that is done, the cameras on the robot can get a better look at what is inside that package."
So now we're waiting to hear what was INSIDE that package now that they have opened it up through detonation. They may have used water to do that.

I distinctly remember, in the days following 9/11, a story making the rounds that passengers on the doomed airliners were basically forced to make cell phone calls, because the terrorists didn't want to be denied their glory "this time." Makes you wonder, doesn't it?

Maybe not yikes.
That pallet that could have previously carried C4 for legit demolition work or that pallet was used for military munition logistics.
