I can't think of a single Democratic policy iniative, foreign or domestic, advanced by them for short term political gain in 100 years that hasn't been disastrous in the long term for the larger polity and society as a whole.

I think Auster's analysis is 100% correct and have been telling everyone pretty much the same thing. Diversity means division not unity. It forces us to focus on what is different about each other instead of what we have in common.
