Let's pray for lesser in this case.

Our high tide here on the Oregon coast is at around 2:30 am 7.7 ft high and the tsunami advisory is for 4:45 a.m.

Crud now I am not going to be able to sleep. Oh I forgot I am a day sleeper.

It will be sunrise/dawn here and the rare snow we had that is now a layer of ice won't allow me to look out at the water.

So who do you think is right?

The USGS that says 7.7 magnitude, or the noaa tsunami people who say 8.4?

What weather channel are you tuned into.

The ticker tape rolling is calling it an advisory, no warning.

They have not yet dismissed it.

Japan warns 3.3-foot tsunami headed its way
Hokkaido on alert after 7.7-magnitude quake strikes off Kuril Islands

TOKYO - A tsunami warning was issued on Saturday for the eastern part of Japan’s northernmost island of Hokkaido and a lesser warning for a wide swathe of northeastern and eastern Honshu, Japan’s main island, NHK public television said.

The earliest possible arrival of the tsunami was estimated at 2 p.m. (0500 GMT) on the eastern coast of Hokkaido with an estimated maximum height of one meter.

The warning came after a 7.7-magnitude earthquake struck to the east of the Kuril Islands. The quake rocked parts of eastern Hokkaido and northeastern Honshu. There were no immediate reports of injuries from the earthquake.
