We made a compromise in 2000 that removed the Confederate flag from the top of the statehouse to the front of the statehouse. In consideration of that change, an African-American monument was constructed near the statehouse. Dodd needs to stop beating a dead horse b/c the flag will never be removed from statehouse grounds.

I love that a yankee democrat is telling South Carolinians what they need to do.

Does Chris Dodd refer to NAACP members as colored people or African Americans or Negroes?

Trying to fire-up the downhome dependable dem base. Shows a real touch of class and ingenuity. Worthy topic that should overshadow trivialities like war and the dogs of war around the globe. Perilous times call for a long-range strategic thinker like this Teddy drinking buddy to lead us.

Dodd should go back to kissing the Sandanista's Rump in Nicaragua. He is a commie lover.

I predict that before his "prseidential run" is complete, he will claim to have a confederate flag on his pickup truck.

Last I checked, Senator Dodd had no authority over decisions made in the state of South Carolina, pertaining to matters of state government. Sounds like he's just trying to make a "splash" among certain, key Democrat voting blocs, by bloviating his way into matters that do not concern him.

Dodd is a fricking jackass.

I can't believe he is dragging out this old garbage again!
Last time they got blacks to boycott the state. I would think they would eventually get tired of saying "how high?" every time the dems yell "JUMP!"

"Dodd needs to stop beating a dead horse b/c the flag will never be removed from statehouse grounds."Thank you, my blood pressure will be returning to normal any minute now. I can't stand the sight of Dodd -- much less listen to his rhetoric.

Sorry, on this issue I agree with him. What possible purpose does a Confederate flag serve? Remove the racial issue from it, and it still represents NOT being part of the United States. As long as you ARE part of the United States, that flag has no place flying over a government building of any kind. Yes, a museum is the only appropriate place for it. (Unless you choose to secede from the union again, and that's an entirely different matter....)

Hey, be careful what you say about the socialist, commie loving Senator from my state who will be spending more time out of Connecticut to run for President than representing his own constituents!

Nope. Can't do that to the South. It'd be like taking the "Don't tread on me" flag from the US revolution and it would be unConstitutional besides. PC be dammed.

What a grand standing POS! You know, I can stomach the liberal dems in their little self serving feel good projects. I hope they make a difference to kids who are genuinely in need, but most of those kids are not, I suspect. They are just the kids of dem party hacks.
What I cannot stomach is revisionist history, the attempt to redefine it. I respect the confederate flag because it also represents patriotic men who later pledged their loyalty to the United States. Their descendants now serve by the millions in our armed forces. This POS senator should go down to NC and try and remove the flag himself. I would then stand by and take pictures.................. until he laid his hands on the halyard. And I am a Northern Yankee.Just think what them good old boys feel like?
Standby with the tar and feathers.
