US MARINE IRAQ VETERAN TO CARRY US FLAG
ACROSS NEW JERSEY TO BOOST MORALE OF TROOPS
WHO: USMC Sergeant Craig M. Breiner, 30 of Howell, NJ
Contact at (908) 415-1640 (available for pre-event interview)
WHAT: Carry the US Flag across New Jersey from Belmar Boardwalk to Trenton State House to garner support for U.S. troops protecting our freedom around the world.
WHEN: Saturday, January 20th
START: 6:00 AM at the 16 Avenue Boardwalk, Belmar
FINISH: 7:00 PM at the State House, 125 West State Street, Trenton
The walk is rain or shine and proceeds down 16 Ave. (Belmar Blvd) to Route 34 North to Route 33 West across the state and to the State House.
WHY: Sgt. Breiner with 7 years service in the Corps is currently an in-active reserve member who has spent seven months in Iraq in 2004 through 2005 serving with the 3rd LAR (Wolf Pack) and the 31 MUE (Task Force NAHA). He offers the following, We need to bring the morale of our troops up. Everything you see on television and in the news is negative. Its time we give these men and women credit. Schools, hospitals, and infrastructure projects are being built. But, you rarely see these positive stories being reported. The Iraqi people who suffered terrible torture and had loved ones killed by the former ruling party, thanked us for giving them the opportunity to have a better life. I hope that people will thank a veteran and remember all the good that goes unreported concerning our military.
Sgt. Breiner welcomes Veterans and anyone interested in showing their support to partake in the march and a non-denomination prayer service upon completion. Media are invited to travel along with Sgt. Breiner.
Great minds think alike, I guess. I just posted updated info on the original thread about various radio stations which will be broadcasting updates throughout the walk. I think your P.R. work resulted in him being contacted by several Philly stations (TV or radio, I'm not sure).
Bravo! That's a 40 mile march.
Fine, but with the U.S. Congress destroying the morale of the troops, this hardly matters.
Thank you. Now everyone spread the word!!!!!!
Kinda like RETAKING the real estate!
Cool indeed. And there's an e-mail to the fairest Freeper in the flock.
Best of luck to this Marine.
He'll need it, he's heading into a steady 10mph headwind most of the day.
"...CARRY US FLAG
ACROSS NEW JERSEY TO BOOST MORALE OF TROOPS"
Not sure how that boosts morale....
It's getting more public attention. Radio stations will be keeping their audience informed as to his location during the day.
It shows them people still support their mission. Even if the story didn't reach the troops overseas, which it will, it would show the guys who still have to go.
My husband enjoyed reading the story and is happy he is doing it.
Thanks so much for posting this. I read it in the Press this morning on my way to work. I tried to post it here but apparently we are blocked by the Asbury Park Press. This is an awesome story. He was partly inspired by Kerry's "joke".
I might have to stop down. It's going to be cold and wet. Good for him and God Bless..
