Baloney. I am the most voracious book reader in my family. Always have been. And I come from a family of Democrats. My Democrat brother, most of all, HATES to read books. Doesn't even own a book.

and their books cover a greater variety of topics.

My enormous collection of books cover a great variety of topics. Biographies, auto-biographies, photography, Fiction, sicence fiction, history, music, movies and theater, architecture, computers and software, true crime, parasychology, etc, etc.

Multiple studies find that liberals are more optimistic.

Conservatives are more likely to be religious.

This could be true, but speaking for myself, I am not religious.

Liberals are more likely to like classical music and jazz, conservatives, country music.

I like classical and Jazz. Have no use for country music.

Liberals are more likely to enjoy abstract art.

Probably.

Conservative men are more likely than liberal men to prefer conventional forms of entertainment like TV and talk radio.

This is true of me.

LOL, I have never met an optimistic liberal, nor one who's mind is open. Liberals tend to have lousy relationships with their parents and tend to be dependant on institutions more than actually producing something. Liberals tend to be self-centered and very stingy when it comes to giving their money.

Is this really a study, or just a regurgitation of popular stereotypes?

Stereotypes have their basis in facts, and make it easier for us to make quick judgements. But, in the end, they are still just broad generalizations.

Liberals are also known stereotypically to be anti-gun (anti-civil rights in my book), yet there are several threads over at DU where gun-lovers go on about their hardware and their rights just like they do here.

The institution of Psychology views 12 year old boys who can't sit still and listen as defective and in need of psychoactive medicinal treatment. At the same time, they view most forms of aberrant sexual behavior as totally natural and pure as the driven snow. As long as the institution holds both of these views I will not listen to a word that the P.C. quacks have to say.
