A Day in the Life of President Bush (photos): 1.19.07

I found no new photos of the president today but there are some photos of Laura in Paris, at the conference on Missing and Exploited Children. As Tony Snow's assistant conducted the press briefing today, and the State of the Union address is next Tuesday, January 23rd at 9:00 PM EST, it seems likely it is crunch time for getting the address ready.

Defense Secretary Gates continues his visit to Iraq, in Basra and Talil, where he is being briefed.

Jay Hein, Director of the WH Office of Faith-Based and Community Initiatives, discussed the President's compassion agenda and the recently launched Compassion in Action Roundtables.

Text of Dana Perino's press briefing today (information on SoTU).

***It seems to me that Democrats and the media were well aware of that fact. And used that knowledge to split a few percent of support from the Republican party.

I think the media knew what they were doing with Mexican immigration and Iraqi war coverage. It contributed to the Loss of the House and senate.***

***Your bonus points answer about all the dead wood was amazing. Who would have thought the storm/s could have taken out so many trees?***

It was a freak storm. It happened on Oct. 12th, waaaaaaaaay early even for up here in Western New York. The trees were in full leaf, and the weight of the snow on the leaves caused the trees to crack and go blam. Who would have thunk it? We thought we were hearing gunshots from every direction, then when we heard the crashes we knew it was trees falling all around us. Almost every street in the large town was impassable because of the trees in the streets.

Oh mercy, that leg lamp! One of my favorite lines is when Darren McGavin accuses his wife (correctly) of always hating it and purposely making it *accidentally* break. I have a friend who loves that movie as I do, and we quote lines from it all time, such as the Major Award reference, Fraaaa GEE lay, You'll shoot yer eye out, kid, etc.

Rachael Ray loves the movie and so one of her recent guests found a place that sells a replica of the leg lamp and she gave it to her on the show.

We may have simple soap -- not something I've heard of though.

Simple Soap "to respect the needs of sensitive skin, Simple was developed as a range of products that are 100% perfume and colour free with no unnecessary ingredients"

That is very similar to soaps here such as Basis.

We all have preferences for how the Dose should go. I personally would like it to be more serious more of the time and be more about politics and less about recipes and stuff like that....... but it's merely a preference, and I understand others like to do other things here, and that's fine with me.

I also missed the offenses, but I'll admit that I don't have time to read every post, and that any bad language or truly coarse talk should never make its way onto the Dose.

It's PG, and should remain as such. :)

***I suspect you typed that comment in the tagline box instead of your reply box.***

That's exactly what I think. I am often surprised by what shows up in my tagline. In my case, it's because I move my mouse out of the way to do something else for a moment, and don't realize it isn't back where it was.

If you want ot remove what's in your tagline, just wipe it out, and then post "Ignore, just fixing my tagline."

Well.........instead of a movie, we watched three..........count them.....THREE episodes of Hart to Hart to finish off the second season so I can get it back to Blockbuster Online.

Now, I think we may do something else.......
