Company's Anti-War Email To Soldier Causes Stir

Company's Anti-War Email To Soldier Causes Stir (AP) WEST ALLIS, Wis. An e-mail exchange interpreted by backers of the military as an affront to U.S. troops in Iraq has brought a deluge of criticism to a local company after circulating across the Internet.

As of Monday night, the Web site for Bargain Suppliers, which sells various types of mats, had only a message saying it was experiencing "technical difficulties" and advising customers to contact the firm via telephone or e-mail.

The incident started when someone identifying himself as Sgt. Jason Hess of the Army's 1st Cavalry Division sent the firm an e-mail asking if it ships to military addresses.

Someone sent a response saying 'no,' but adding, "even if we did, we would NEVER ship to Iraq. If you were sensible, you and your troops would pull out of Iraq."

Some friends of Hess apparently learned of the exchange, which last week began making its way via the Internet to various forums and blogs and to talk radio.

Sajid Nasir, company vice president, said Wednesday that the employee responsible for the e-mail was being "held accountable."

But he said the flood of e-mails and voice messages about the exchange included nasty language and threats left at the West Allis home that co-owner Faisal Kehtani shares with his parents.

"It's really getting out of control," said Nasir, describing the messages as "angry and vulgar."

"This is a matter of free speech," said Julie Enslow, an organizer with Peace Action Wisconsin in Milwaukee. "It is totally irresponsible for radio stations and bloggers to attack a person for his personal political views."

Which means, translated, that while anyone is free to insult the military no one is free to respond. Sorry, Julie, it doesn't work that way.

Yes, the lefties use the free speech defense of indefensible language the way a trial attorney uses it -- he accuses the witness of something horrible, the judge admonishes the jury to disregard the remark, but it's "out there" and implanted in their minds.

Sajid Nasir and Faisal Kehtani.....

I don't think I too surprised this is the attitude at this company.

Inquiring minds might ask whether the owner and the "employee" are not the same person.

I'm about to gag. How else can you interpret it? Some Arab dude sides with our enemies, and now he's playing the victim. Utterly disgusting, in my view.

Nope. If you play the game be prepared to duck the incoming and give your business to the courts when the boycott starts.

You play when you open your mouth. Be prepared for the retort.

For leftists, free speech means you're free to agree with them.

Sajid also told Fox reporter Kennedy that the employee was fired. I don't buy that for a moment. All this bunch has learned to do is speak American PC. They see our pols do it all the time and get away with murder.

Monkey see Monkey do in Jihadi Land.

I saw this story a little earlier and did some searching for contact info. The following came from http://euphoricreality.com/2007/01/21/lefty-retailer-insults-troops-2/
which has a pretty good write-up about this.

The Mat Dealer's website is temporarily down but the following might help those in the mood to share their opinion:

contact@discount-mats.com

414-736-8394

fax: 414-543-9634

Here is their mailing address:

Bargain Suppliers
3259 S.106th Street
West Allis, WI 53227

There are more contact points at the euphoricreality site.

A possible correction--there's a vast difference in "dealing with an employee" and firing an employee. Given the name of the vice-president, maybe this employee will get a bonus. Or a promotion.
