Does anyone know how many Iraqi millitary or police have been killed while fighting with us?
self

Posted on 01/28/2007 1:38:17 PM PST by cjmae

I just read a Reuters story about 250 insurgents being killed by Iraqi forces and during the attack a United States helicopter assisting the effort crashed with two soldiers being killed. It crossed my mind that with all of the fuss going on about weather or not we should be there or if the Iraqi's want us there that I don't believe I have ever heard of a body count of brave Iraqi military personell or police officers that have also died serving their country along with the coalition. I can only come to the conclusion that if things are as bad as it seems the media wants us to believe then the count would be few and the story would be told. Does anyone know?

I don't know the exact figures but it is far higher than ours. Maybe 8000 dead? Much maligned Pakistan has suffered the third worst casualty figures. Don't know how many our Afghan allies have lost. BTW, ARVN suffered twice or thrice our own casualty figures but they rarely received much credit.

Did I leave the iron on?

Why not ask your question on the active thread you referred to?

Many have been killed while recruits. Terrorist have targeted them to discourage others from joining.

I have no concrete numbers at hand, but aprox. double our casualty figures (which means more or less 6000).

Add: edpc makes an important point... many have been killed while standing in the cue to recruit. The numbers have to be split to see how many died while in duty/combat.

According to iCasualties.org the Military and Police of Iraq have lost around 6000 dead, but they say that the totals are probably higher.

I don't know the number of Iraqi security forces that have been killed in the line of duty while fighting for us, but can tell you for a fact that the number of IRAQIS, plural, including police, security and civilians, killed by terrorists is far higher than coalition casualties combined.

Iraqi records keeping is still sketchy, there is not a snowballs chance in Hades that any branch of the media gives an obese rat's derriere how many Iraqi citizens have been killed.....so there are no numbers. I can only tell you "higher than American casualties, overall".

IL Senators Dickhead and Barack Hussein Obama says zero, the Iraqis are not making enough of a sacrifice, and they are not worth our help anyhow.

"I have no concrete numbers at hand, but aprox. double our casualty figures (which means more or less 6000)."

I'd say you're about right. Unfortunately not one so-caled "journalist" on the planet cares. It's been a real peeve of mine for the past three years. I b*tch at every opportunity but with no positive results, because reporters are too scared to leave their hotel rooms, generally.

Has CNN taken the "How many Bush killed in this unjust war against the Democratic Country of Iraq under Saddam" tote board down?

It's impossible to tell because they dress and hide among the general population. That's why they are terrorists.

There have been numbers posted, but the problem was that they included hundreds of people who were on their way to enlist who were killed as the result of kidnappings and/or blown up on busses or were standing in line to sign up. Since a number of those people wouldn't have become policemen or soldiers, the numbers aren't accurate.

This is from todays action, via BBC

Iraq clashes 'kill 250 militants'

The battle raged all day as US-backed Iraqi army units fought the previously unidentified group in orchards on the northern outskirts of Najaf.

Three Iraqi soldiers had reportedly died in the battle and 21 were injured.

The US military said two of its troops died when their helicopter was shot down, but did not confirm any of the Iraqi casualty figures.

I know for a fact that they've lost many more than we have, but I cannot give you the exact figure. It's a state secret the MSM will not reveal; they're real dedicated to keeping some secrets secret, not the ones that would do us harm, but the ones that might change minds to realize the Iraqis are working in tandem with us.

Seems a little strange that we can kill all of the innocent Serbian people we want as long as there is not a shred of national interest present.

Thank you

It's a start but this seems to be an important subject that has been missed by both sides.
At least not discussed much.
It could have been mentioned in the state of the union address.

I'm surprised I haven't thought of it until now.

I myself would count them as people who were willing to sacrifice themselves for their country and what they feel is at stake.
Especially knowing that they could be targeted. Unless you wanted to take the Charles Rangle approach and assume they they didn't have a choice.

Thanks

It is a pretty detailed site.

I would like to study it further but I see that someone thought it was important enough to devote some time to it.

Sorry but I read it on the net and not on a thread.

I tried to post it to other headings but it wouldn't let me for some reason.

I've received some good feedback though.

realize the Iraqis are working in tandem with us.

Not only the Iraqis but since I asked the question I've been linked to a couple of interesting web sites that are keeping track and the coalition casualties are far more than I thought.
Not that that's a good thing by any stretch but I'll bet that by how many troops they have present percentage wise it's about equal to the US.
