This is a media and liberal politician driven fear frenzy.

You know why the media loves this story so much? Because it has NOTHING to do with the real threat of terrorism we face in this country and they don't have to talk about WHO actually wants us dead.

We had a jihadist walk into LAX and start shooting and the FBI was acting like they just couldn't POSSIBLY figure out what the motive could be.

Just imagine if instead of the mooninites those billboards said "I heart Islam!"

The media and polis would be falling all over themselves to explain how it was all a big misunderstanding, how they are going to reach out into the peaceful muslim community and heal this terrible rift caused by islamophobia in the post 9-11 world etc.

Patrick and Menino got exposed as being reactionary morons. Even after TW called and told the Boston officials that the ads were part of a marketing campaign, Boston still didn't buy it. They wanted to play up the "OMG scary fake bombs" aspect. The MSM execs are irate because ONCE AGAIN they got caught sleeping and scooped by the internet.

I don't put my trust in the MSM and brain dead liberal Mass politicians.

Prediction, Menino will somehow manage to twist this into a way to gather support for more gun control laws and Boston will use this as an excuse to try to get more $$$$ for funding.

An excellent post. I wish I'd written it.

It's amazing to see Freepers beat their chests as the "better conservative" while endorsing Mumbles' FUBAR handling of this.

Nonsense, it wasn't a bomb, it didn't look like a bomb, it was a totally irrational reaction by the nut-jobs that "protect" us. It had some lights and batteries - obvious - so to the dumb asses hired to protect us, it must be dangerous! Where is their sense? Soon a bulge in your pants will be a reason to capture or shoot you for being a danger to the public.

This cost the city a small fortune

Because the populace voted for a bunch of morons to hire a bunch of morons who reacted in a totally stupid way "to protect the city." (with an appology to morons)

They are, obviously, signs. But the features, such as exposed battery packs, exposed wiring and method of placement, play on the fact that people are looking for just such things in bombs.

You are most ridiculous! Obviously, a bomb would be concealed from it's purpose. You wouldn't notice it dumb-ass.

the authorities were reasonable and prudent in their response. I disagree, the authorities were total itiots and shouldn't have been hired by the populace. A bomb would not be obvious, indeed, it would be secreted as a rock or a structural element, were it to be successful. Your authorities are ridiculous fools, too bad for you because you will never know what hit you when an actual terrorist intends to harm you.

Poo, he will outlaw possession of batteries, wires and little light-bulbs. Terrorist devices they are.

Intent is the difference in a lot of crimes.

Perhaps the intent is to make the politicians look like a bunch of idiots - (which of course they are) - haven't they made that offense deserving of a death penalty yet? Lame!

Well, this won't be decided by me or you, you lovely person.

This will be decided by a jury of twelve Bostonians, sworn and true. They will apply the "reasonable man" test, and decide whether or not they think these devices meet that test.

I'll be happy with whatever they decide. That's the way the system works, you lovely, lovely person.

You are the winner there - shades of the Massachusetts witch trials, I'm sure the offenders will be hung. You idiots.

So I shouldn't be on the lookout for this:

Actually, based on the words of the judge at arraignment, it's far more likely this will never see a jury. If the morons in the prosecutor's office insist on trying to hang these guys, the judge who buys the case will dismiss for LoE and failure to pass any intelligent person's concept of reasonableness as soon as the prosecution rests - As he should.

I think it's far more likely they'll be pled out to thirty-eight counts of littering or advertising without a license. Turner will pay their fines and the whole incident will be swept quietly under the rug.

And the poor citizens of Boston will never live down the failure of their mayor and police force to act in a rational manner.

Kind of pathetic, really.

Regards,

Col Sanders
