The only thing they have advanced in since the Crusades is that they use better and deadlier weapons now.

"They...ie Islam...seriously need a reformation."

You can't polish a turd.

Sure you can:
Ornament and method of manufacture

Document Type and Number:

Abstract:
An ornament is produced by drying an animal dropping, removing the natural outer coating to expose the interior grain and treating the dropping with a plastic or synthetic resin to form a hard transparent coating. Ah, but that's the plastic coating on the turd that is actually polished, not the turd itself.

Bit like the gold dome of a mosque, really.

Some FReepers will argue about anything. ;^)

"Don't you wish those campaigns had a different ending."

Yes. It is possible that the world would have been a better place had the Crusades been successful. Yet, my experience tells me that the absolute amount of evil in the world seems to stay the same. Thus, if we had cleaned up the middle east in the past, modern evil would just come from a different direction. Conservation of evil as it were. My previous comment wasn't intended as a joke or as derision, I was commenting that it was sad that the west didn't continue. It is possible that pushing islam back would have made the present much more peaceful.
