Since that's Lady Liberty, one might think that the
feministas would approve.
But I'm not so sure, because of the boobs.

I carry 5's, 10's, 20's. But who wants to carry that much in coins?
Who says you need to? Keep carrying large bills.

I figure the government makes money on coining pennies - I must have thousands of them lying around in jars and boxes, with little incentive (pun) to wrap them and bank them.

Also, unless you keep your wallet in a front pocket, it's easier for a pickpocket to steal it.
That has never been a problem for me. My past has not been really clean, and I can spot and am aware of criminal activity. Knowledge is power.

The weight of a hundred dollar-coins in my purse would be unmanageable. Why do they keep trying to foist these stupid coins on us?
You carry 100 dollar bills? Thats quite a wad!

I'm just old enough to remember using REAL dollar coins.
They were big enough that you did not mistake them for quarters, made of Silver, and a nuisance.
They were still in wide circulation in Nevada long after they disappeared from most other area's.
When they finally all got taken home by tourist the casino's began minting their own tokens.

It surprises me that retail business don't catch on and, after totaling a sale, don't round things down to the nearest nickle or dime. Lots of times, a cash transaction is extended many seconds by people reaching into their pockets for a penny or two to eliminate a few pennies change. The delay probably costs the retailer more in clerical time than it is worth.
It used to be that Wawa's around here had a bowl with lots of pennies in it to expedite transactions, (with a give a penny, take a penny, invite) for some reason that seemingly efficient innovation has vanished.

No sweat. Today, a dollar coin would be more like the size of a dime!

The Janet Jackson quarter? My late father said that in his youth, boys would rub the bare breast of Lady Liberty -- which may explain why most of these coins are so worn down.

America has had some of the most beautiful coins in the world. St. Gaudens double eagle, Morgan and Peace dollars, Winged Liberty dime. But nothing to speak of since the Walking Liberty half.

Legally, they don't. If you refuse the change given in coins - you are out of luck. Legal tender...

You can continue to build studebakers even though everyone didn't want to buy them.
Same deal, don't force folks to use crap they don't care to, i.e. dollar coins.

"About a dollar's worth" of silver would be, for all practical purposes, a slightly sub-dime-sized coin. At Ag $13.82, silver dimes are now worth about 98.8 cents. Source: http://tulving.com/goldbull.html (scroll to 7/8th the way to the bottom) Of course, those are 90% silver coins so reduce the size further by a volume factor of 10%...we'd be talking size-wise about an old NYC subway token as a dollar coin. And this would be if the gum_mint gave away the seignorage, IOW, minted the things for free. That, I can assure you, will never happen. Think the people would go for a "new silver dollar" smaller than the size of a dime...? I don't!

I went to KFC to try one of those KFC Snackers. Didn't see it on the drive thru menu. Asked the person taking my order if they have those KFC Snackers and she says, we don't have them now. I say why not? She just repeats her previous statement. I ask again do you guys still make this sandwich I still see commercials for it? Once again she repeats her statement. I tell her thats the only thing on your menu I was considering, you lost a sale, and drove through the drive thru without stopping.

I would like a heavier and larger coin with Reagan on it worth $2.00 or $2.50. ...and call it the "Gipper". Excellent idea!!!!
To: BenLurkin
I liked the Sacagawea coins - hey mother with child that's good - but when I went to get them at the bank they were laced with the feminist Susan B. Anthony coins - now that is stupid. Introduce a 2nd effort and keep it together with the first rejected one.
