WASHINGTON (AP) -- The Democratic-controlled House issued a symbolic rejection of President Bush's decision to deploy more troops to Iraq on Friday, opening an an epic confrontation between Congress and commander in chief over an unpopular war that has taken the lives of more than 3,100 U.S. troops.

The vote on the nonbinding measure was 246-182.

Resolution criticized President Bush for his decision to send more troops to Iraq is a rare admonishment of a wartime commander-in-chief.

"The passage of this legislation signal a change in direction that will end the fighting and bring our troops home," House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said before the vote when she endorsed the measure that takes issue with Bush's decision to send an additional 21,500 U.S. troops into battle.

This is not news anymore, but remember that the voters put these people in office so they do in fact and de jure represent the citizens and other voters. It's what the people want, to pretend it's a warm fuzzy world.

Now I've got to help find a primary opponent for my congressman. I hate that.

Now that the new military leadership is in place and our strategy appears to be far more aggressive it's no surprise the 'Rats are getting scared. An American victory in Iraq (or anywhere else, for that matter) is the last thing they want.

....as long as a Republican sits in the WH, of course.

Now Iraq is like Vietnam.....the Demorats voted for defeat for that war as well. And millions died. The blood that will come from this vote, and following votes, will be on the hands of the Rats, and the voters that put them in office.

God save our military, because America won't. We don't deserve them.

Exactly - the key point in the CNN story (and about the whole non-binding resolution in general) is that it's only symbolic. IOW, no substance ("symbolism over substance" ... where have I heard that one before?), and only designed as a bone to throw to the Nutroots and other Dem Base groups.

The best approach to this from a pro-Bush standpoint is to keep hammering on it just being symbolic and that the Dems lack the b*lls to actually do something that will matter.

NEW: Seventeen GOP members joined Demcrats in supporting the resolution

All it takes for evil to triumph is for Republicans to befriend, act like, and give in to, Democrats. What is the point of voting for these schmucks if they act like this? Oh that's right, we are Republicant's Frist, I mean first, above all.
