Ten Years After Empire State Terror Attack, the Truth Comes Out
Little Green Footballs ^ | February 18, 2007 | Charles Johnson

Posted on 02/18/2007 9:42:28 AM PST by faq

In February 1997, Palestinian English teacher Ali Abu Kamal went to the 86th floor observation deck of the Empire State Building, pulled out a gun, and opened fire, killing one person and wounding six others before killing himself. Even though he carried letters ranting about the US and Israel, the media heavily promoted the story that he was despondent and suicidal after a financial loss.

Today the killer’s daughter—who works for the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestinian “refugees” (UNRWA)—admitted that this story was a complete fraud. She wants the world to know that her father was “martyred for patriotic motivations.”

And the family was directly instructed to lie about it by the Palestinian Authority: Killer’s daughter admits it was political.

GAZA CITY - Ali Abu Kamal’s relatives say they are tired of lying about why the Palestinian opened fire on the observation deck of Empire State Building, killing a tourist and injuring six other people before committing suicide.

Kamal’s widow insisted after the shooting spree that the attack was not politically motivated. She said that her husband had become suicidal after losing $300,000 in a business venture.

But in a stunning admission, Kamal’s 48-year-old daughter Linda told the Daily News that her dad wanted to punish the U.S. for supporting Israel - and revealed her mom’s 1997 account was a cover story crafted by the Palestinian Authority.

A Palestinian Authority official advised us to say the attack was not for political reasons because that would harm the peace agreement with Israel,” she told The News on Friday. “We didn’t know that he was martyred for patriotic motivations, so we repeated what we were told to do.”

But three days after the shootings, Kamal’s family got a copy of a letter that was found on his body, they said. The letter said he planned the violence as a political statement, his daughter said. “When we wanted to clarify that to the media, nobody listened to us,” she said. “His goal was patriotic. He wanted to take revenge from the Americans, the British, the French and the Israelis.”

She said the family became certain that he carried out the attack for political reasons after reading his diary. “He wrote that after he raised his children and made sure that his family was all right he decided to avenge in the highest building in America to make sure they get his message,” said Linda, who works for the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees.

She said her mom burned the diary, fearing that it would cause the family trouble.

The problem is, you can't believe a word half of these people say. Suddenly the suicidal goofball is a "patriot", huh? And three days after the rampage the killer's family "got a copy of a letter that was found on his body" and it was all really about Israel and blah blah blah?

Yeah, sure.

That sums it up nicely.

I wish I did. I'll look because I know it's out there somewhere. We just need to dig it up, because you KNOW the rudyRINOphiles will demand that we produce it.

I remember this event, because I remember thinking at the time, TYPICAL reaction from a northeastern, inner-city liberal with a thing against ALL people keeping and bearing arms, NOT just criminals and crazies.

I hardly knew rudy from shinola (if you know the original saying, you'll know what i think of RINO-rudy!) at the time, but given his post as mayor of one of the most left-wing cities on the face of the planet, I was not surprised one bit at his reaction to this incident.

Then, just as now, the "R" next to his name is virtually MEANINGLESS (unless of course, it ACTUALLY stands for RINO!).

The guy was a Muslim alien. Is that who you want to give guns to? That was Giuliani's comment - that Ali Abu Kamal had circumvented a 90 day in country residency requirement.

What if the airliner going down over Long Island was a terrorist act that was covered up? What was the motivation for covering it up?

From the NY Times February 25, 1997

About 9 A.M. yesterday, United States Representative Carolyn McCarthy was on her way to Southampton, L.I., for a day off when a call came in from Mayor Rudolph W. Giuliani's office. Could she turn around and come to City Hall -- right now -- to appear with the Mayor at an 11 o'clock news conference and help make the case that gun control might have prevented the Empire State Building shootings?

Her father got hold of her through a medium and told her he was cheated out of his 72 Virgins because the American media didnt admit he was a martyr, This is an attempt to get the virgins for her father.

This story is not much different from the one told of the Islamic killer last week who went Pschycho and killed all those people in the mall. I wonder if he got his virgins.

Now the killers daughter is working for the UN in this country and since she is so worried about gettuing his martyrdom recognised it is pretty obvious she is proud of what he did. She may even do something of that sort herself and should be kept under serveilance or sent back to Palestine. How many others are in this country working for the UN who need to be sent home as security risks.

The federal government, for reasons of it's own, do not want thousands of muslim bodies stacked up in ditches, so they keep smothering the truth.

The only reason 9/11 didn't get the same treatment is that the destruction of the tallest buildings in NY in broad daylight was sort of hard to blame on a "lone gunman." They have been covering up terrorist attacks for years.

The idea, I suppose, is that since such actions are political statements, if there is no statement, there is no point in repeating the act. No one has ever said that the Feds are smart.

OBVIOUSLY, we don't want illegal aliens of ANY sort to obtain firearms, BUT...

it is naive to think that a determined individual can NOT get most any firearm he wants anyway, AND, the answer for gun-grabbing RINO-rudy, if gun-grabbing wasn't a part of the fiber-of-his-being, was that he SHOULD have railed against the federal government (rudy's buddy, bill clinton's soft-on-terror, tough on innocent law-abiding gun owners, government)not cracking down on these type of foreign intruders that do not respect or follow our laws.

But no, gun-grabbing RINO-rudy used it as yet ANOTHER reason to push more Draconian gun-control.

He would do the SAME EXACT THING if, GOD FORBID, he were to become president.

Here's the TRUTH about the first terrorist attack in New York City during Giuliani's term as mayor. On 23 February 1997 an Islamic terrorist opened fire on the observation platform of the Empire State Building in New York City. This was a terrorist attack and is even listed as a "significant terrorist attack" on the U.S. State Department's website. How did Giuliani react to the first Islamic terrorist attack while he was mayor? He took the opportunity to immediately and openly politicize the event to advance his and the Democrats' agenda for national gun control and to praise Bill Clinton's gun control efforts.

Here's the relevant info and quotes:

U.S. State Department - Significant Terrorist Incidents 1961-2003

Empire State Building Sniper Attack, February 23, 1997: A Palestinian gunman opened fire on tourists at an observation deck atop the Empire State Building in New York City, killing a Danish national and wounding visitors from the United States, Argentina, Switzerland, and France before turning the gun on himself. A handwritten note carried by the gunman claimed this was a punishment attack against the "enemies of Palestine."
Archives of Rudy Giuliani, Mayor's Message, 2 March 1997:
"Good morning. It has been a week since the terrible tragedy that happened last Sunday at the Empire State Building. And even as we grieve for the families and our hearts and prayers go out to them, perhaps we can use this senseless tragedy to re-energize the fight for gun control."

Archives of Rudy Giuliani, Major Addresses, Citizen's Crime Commission, 6 March 1997:
A couple of weeks ago, all New Yorkers and people throughout the world were appalled by the senseless and horrifying act of violence that occurred at the Empire State Building.

[snip]

Because of this transformation of perception, when this latest tragedy occurred, instead of having to defend New York City, we were able to focus national attention on the real problem, which is gun control. And even as we grieve for those who lost their lives, and our hearts and prayers go out to the victims and their loved ones, we may be able to find some sort of meaning in this tragedy by using it as a catalyst to revive national gun control efforts.

[snip]

Yesterday, President Clinton outlined his proposals for more stringent, federal gun licensing requirements. ... I applaud the President's proposals, and I will support them any way I can.

I only hope that he is right, and that Congress is finally ready to recognize that the vast majority of Americans want more gun control. It makes sense. It is time. And we can no longer let special interests dominate this vitally important issue.

[snip]

I know many people argue that keeping and bearing arms is federally guaranteed right as stated in the Second Amendment of the Constitution. But even in the Second Amendment, it refers to firearms in the context of a well regulated militia, and well regulated is what we're trying to accomplish.

Two days after the terrorist attack, Giuliani wasn't assessing further Islamic terrorist threats or preparing the city against terrorist attack or publically denouncing Islamic terrorism. No, instead he was in a press conference at City Hall with a Democrat gun control nut (Rep. Carolyn McCarthy) by his side calling for national gun control.

This is the TRUTH that must be told about the February 1997 terrorist attack in New York City. This is how Giuliani deals with terrorist attacks. He blamed the guns, called for violating constitutional rights for EVERYONE, and wanted to take away our own individual defense against further terrorist attacks. More disturbing is that he would openly politicize a terrorist attack to advance a liberal agenda.

Even if Giuliani didn't have all of the other 100-ton social liberal and personal baggage he would carry as the GOP nominee for President, his reaction to this terrorist attack is more than enough reason for Republicans to seriously consider looking for a better candidate.

Thanks garv, for the info to back up my memory of those events.

RINO-rudy is a long-time liberal gun-grabber that has no real respect for, or understanding of, our 2nd Amendment rights.

Read the article I posted a link to. Giuliani used this incident as excuse to promote gun control.

He knowingly used an attack by a Muslim terrorist to try to restrict the rights of American citizens.
