1. Win the war!

5. Rebuild the military!

8. Cut spending!

Numbers one and five won't allow for number eight.

P.S. Duncan Hunter..........................

The idea that he or any other conservative doesn't have a chance is just what some others want us to think.

It's TWO YEARS before the election, for heaven's sake!

A little organizational build-up in some key primary states that bring his percentages up and the media have to recognize him.

If he and his advisors are using a steady approach to his strategy, then it may just pay off. IMHO

P.S. Newt said in so many words last night, that the top three could be old hat in a year or so and be boring us all. Smart on his part to wait.

Hillary's running on an immediate unilateral surrender to the terrorists platform, as in exactly what they did to us in Vietnam

Actually what she's doing is worse. NV never actually attacked us.

These jihadi thugs have repeatedly and will do so again, also repeatedly.

Hillary says this on her web site: The redeployment should start in 90 days or the congress will revoke authorization for this war.
Apparently Congress needs to reauthorize the war or its over. Now we really have a battle on our hands.

People are discussing Guliani as the Republican candidate because that's who the media has picked, same as they're talking about Obama.

For weeks before anyone ever heard a word from or about Barak Hussein, the media was touting him as "exciting", "a real threat to Hillary", "one of the Front Runners", "leading in the polls"....just gushing all over this guy without ever saying a dang thing about who he was, 'cause frankly they didn't know!

It was like the little John Edwards phenomena - some lawyer who hap pend to stumble into a Senate job, but was likely to - and did - lose his job because he never showed up for work...and all of a sudden he's running for president!? I don't know who was more surprised, the media or America! ROFL!!

When was the last time any of the driveby media - or sleep-in' Fox mentioned anyone but Guliani, and a couple times Mitt Romney? Granted I haven't watched TV in almost a year, but I read it, and no one's talking about Tancredo or Hunter.

The inevitable circus of eye batting, double talking, spray tanned, can speeched, moon walking fools are going to give the media fits with their infinite variations of "Our only plan is to bash a lame duck president". So, what's going to happen when a REAL conservative steps up with REAL plan(s) to keep our nation Safe and it's citizens Prosperous, Specific Steps to accomplish these, and oh yeah, btw, one of the very few things Bush did drop the ball on, the nation is in limbo over, yet everyone else is afraid to even talk about, that should be the very 1st thing a conservative candidate should pick up, run with, and make it all his own!

I can not think of a more opportune topic to wrap one's arms around right now than illegal aliens, the topic has already been started, people are furious that nothing got done, our Border Agents can't defend themselves, two are in prison for obscene sentences, it's like a golden football just sitting there mid field, both teams sitting on their respective bleachers, wondering what to do about it.

The one who runs out and grabs it is going to be the one on everyone's porch and in everyone's living room the next morning, and he should never stop talking about what HIS plans are, before the circus even starts.

That way, everything the rats spin out will be in reaction to what the Conservative candidate has just laid out, which is what America is used to listening to, rats reacting to the President's actions , rats responding the President's speech, rats giving interviews about how wrong the Conservative is without ever proposing a plan of their own....heck, Hunter, Tancredo, whoever we pick gets a jump out in front on the circus selection process, would pretty much be the de facto President just by keeping the rat's on their heels.

He needs to start pounding down their throats all the great accomplishment's that happened during the Bush, Cheney and Republican congress years, attack straight on the false rumors about the war and where the corruption truly lies in congress, and explain exactly what his plan is to do a better job on the things Bush slipped on.

We've had some major successes during the last two Presidential terms, and through the guidance of a Republican led congress for 12 years.

We need to tout them, not run from them, and we need to explain to the American people what really happened with this illegal alien problem, and how the rat's sabotaged every effort we made, instead of just complaining how Bush didn't get it done.

How many people remembered that he at least tried to do something about it, while the rat's made sure that nothing was done about it. It seems all anyone has concentrated on was Bush's failure, so very few speak of the rat's treachery.

The political world turned upside down after vietnam, and the political world has turned upside down after 9/11. No president in modern times has had to deal with such a threat. Republicans have to wake up to a new political world and need a powerful articule leader who understands this, whomever they nominate.

I think we'd even pull in California.

What a vision!

Even our responsible Hispanic friends and neighbors are sick to death of the illegal alien scourge here in San Diego.

Lessons learned from Arnold mesmerism have taught me to trust my instinct this time and back a tried and true conservative.

Anti-immigrant rhetoric is a loser.

Please be clear. Securing the border is not anti-immigrant. You could say it's anti-illegal-alien. This is not a minor distinction.

I think most Americans are pro-immigrant like me, and most want our borders secure as I do.

Of course one person's nonessential spending is another person's essential spending.

In no way am I a budget expert, even though I like to play one on FR, but the supplemental requests for the War in Iraq alone make it look like we're spending like a drunken Sailor*. The bill for rebuilding and expanding the Army and the Marine Corps in the middle of a war is going to look like more binge drinking.

*not a reference to any current FReepers who happen to be Navy Vets.

Because some people seem to think that means guys like Hunter or Tancredo. I like Hunter; I just don't think he's ready for prime time. I could see him having a cabinet position, though. Tancredo seems to be spending all of his time alienating all Hispanics, not just illegals.<p.I like Romney's fiscal conservatism and Rudy's toughness (yeah I know, boo, hiss, get it out of your system). Other than that, the other guy I might vote for, Mark Sanford, isn't running. So there you go.
