Dennis Miller coming to talk radio
DennisMillerRadio ^ | 2/27/07 | raccoonradio/Dennis Miller

Posted on 02/27/2007 8:52:35 AM PST by raccoonradio

He pitches his show. "I'm part libertarian, part objectivist, part conservative. I'm not a liberal but I don't hate liberals like some hosts do, as most of my best friends are liberals. I'm no longer liberal because I wanted to stop my sentences one word short of the word 'but'..."

starts March 26. It MIGHT be on 9-noon Eastern. Not sure. That's the news, and I...am...outta here.

"Our overall legal system? Deeply troubled. There's a group of overweight Americans right now who want to sue the Big 3 automakers. They say the seatbelts won't fit around their waists and thus puts them in harm's way....I don't have anything against fat people, but if you can't get the seat belt around your waist, a head-on collision is the LEAST of your concerns."

I like Dennis, but this won't work. He's got to many facets. Just look at his statement about his being part Libertarian, etc.

Will there be an annotation website so I can see just what the hell he is talking about? Smart guy, but I feel like I need an encyclopedia and a People magazine combined to get his references.

As it is, I stopped listening to almost all talk radio, except Rush. I would probably listen to Dennis Miller, I like his stuff usually.

It would beat the hell out of the "Tommy Taxes" Finneran show.

I really, really hope he makes it. I think he is one of the best commentators out there -- he's actually a joy to hear because he has a sense of humor which appears to take it's root in a degree of common sense. "Break a leg, Dennis!!!"

I love DM, but my concern is whether he can be as funny for 3 hours a day, 5 days a week, as he clearly can be for 10 minutes (SNL fake news, Rants, etc.).

I hope so. I don't agree with him on all issues, but I think most FReepers can identify with his journey from a total snarky liberal to an equally snarky not-so-liberal, due to the lessons life teaches.

I find his intellectual humor very entertaining. I am no fan of celebs in general but do like to be entertained. Radio audiences are generally more intellectual thinkers. They also tend to be more up to speed on current events and politics. I expect his show will do well. It will depend on his interaction with the audience and his talent for radio.

He understands that to maximize his audience he needs to pretend to be somewhere in the middle like O'Reilly. He'll swap sides when it's necessary to keep the dialog flowing. I do appreciate his wry sense of humor occasionally.

LOL

I think we will survive if he cites Pliny the Elder again. On Monday Night Football no less.

I will listen!

Thanks, I would listen if it's out this way. I wonder if WRKO would air his show?
