RUDY DRAGGED DOWN
The New York Post ^ | 3/3/2007 | IAN BISHOP

March 3, 2007 -- WASHINGTON - Rudy Giuliani's liberal stance on abortion, guns and gays wasn't his biggest problem yesterday as he addressed a conference of conservative activists - it was his having dressed in drag.

A whisper campaign targeting the front-running GOP White House contender's cross-dressing stunts at gala political dinners in New York and on "Saturday Night Live" was the hot topic among right-leaning activists.

I hadn't thought it would matter until the comments and photos began appearing here excessively every day. What is it, a generational thing? Who are the ones most disturbed by it? I am a baby boomer, one of the older ones. I saw this sort of light-hearted dressing up as women at my father's many clubs, some were VFW and very serious lodges too. He never participated but thought it was hilarious. He was a WW II hero, a survivor of the Pearl Harbor attack, a staunch Christian and community servant. It didn't bother him a bit. So...who are the ones most threatened by it?

I'm not a Rudy supporter (in the primaries at least) but this sort of attack is silly.

The guy has a Milton Berle sense of humor, which frankly is a plus in my book. At least he's not a self-important popinjay like Edwards or an empty suit like Obama or a snarling Bolshevik harpy like Hillary-- none of whom are known for their talents for self-deprecation and all of whom would benefit if they were to develop one. Then again, Rudy's not a social conservative either, which should be our main message about him during this primary season. He's hugely accomplished, very smart, and his leadership skills are superb, but IMHO there are better Republican candidates to nominate (see my tagline)... but not because Giuliani's done some rather funny send-ups of himself in drag.

It's a city but with a population that exceeds that of many states and countries too!

It was less than three months before the horrific September 11th, 2001, attacks on New York City, that New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani hosted his "8th annual Gay Pride Celebration" at Gracie Mansion in Manhattan, New York. It was held on Thursday, June 21, 2001, and for the first time, at the perennial urging of S.V.A. President Williamson Henderson, and a few others, it was held not as an early morning breakfast but as an evening cocktail party. On Sunday, June 24, 2001, Mayor Rudy Giuliani…….joined the STONEWALL Veterans' Association and the 1969 Cadillac "Stonewall Car" in leading the annual New York City Gay Pride Parade down Fifth Avenue in Manhattan.

Birds of a feather?

Excerpt:

...the organizing committee of Stonewall 25 is dominated by those intent on imposing political censorship. To march in the parade, groups must take the equivalent of a loyalty oath. They must pledge their support for age-of-consent laws. Any group that favors the abolition of these laws has been denied permission to march. The obvious intent of this ruling is to keep the North American Man-Boy Love Association (NAMBLA) out of the parade, presumably from a desire to avoid bad publicity. But it galls me that people are being excluded not for what they do but for what they think....

Which of these members voted to allow NAMBLA to march under their own banner? And what does NAMBLA being part of Stonewall MEAN?

Some here carry intolerance to an extreme.

I suppose that all depends on what you are willing to tolerate.

According to the Times, Giuliani has attended every “gay pride” parade in New York during his eight years as mayor. In 1992, during his first run for mayor, Giuliani took part in a homosexual “pride” parade that included a contingent of pedophile activists marching behind a banner for NAMBLA (North American Man/Boy Love

Just think of how much fun 'fund raisers' will be with President Guiliani!!! (rolling eyes)

I guess those pictures DO make him even more popular with liberals.

More important that he'll quash Al Queda in a minute.

That might be true if he was the only candidate who would "quash Al Queda".

But he isn't,so naturally, his othe rpolicies must be considered also.

Hillary Clinton has marched in the annual New York Gay Pride Parade. For years, that parade had a float carrying members of NAMBLA, the North American Man-Boy Love Association, whose monomania is the elimination of the age of consent for sex between men and boys.

Now, Ms. Pelosi, it's my understanding, has marched in gay pride parades in which they've had floats of the North American Man-Boy Love Association, which wants to eliminate all age of consent laws. And it's an outrageous group, in my judgment, a criminal group almost in what it recommends. But I've not seen the Democrats come down and condemn them, and I believe Senator Clinton has marched in a parade with a similar float.

Two national figures, Rudy Giuliani, Hillary Rodham Clinton marched in gay pride parades in New York in which I believe that NAMBLA floats were moved right along, and these are child predators who are arguing for getting rid of -- laws between men and boys --

If Rudy's run for President doesn't work out he can always get a gig touring with The Village People.

"....I do wonder how this will "play" in political ads and affect the voters who are not currently engaged."

Just imagine one of the Left wing political action groups making an ad with a picture of Rudy in Drag, Put a few of his quotes about gay rights under that, then.....Is this who you want for your next President?

The rats don't even have to have their name on the ad.

That is the kind of thing that they can plaster on TV 24/7 with very little money to produce the ad and nothing in it would be a lie!

Add a few ads from the Right to life, Focus on the Family, and the Gun groups about his position on the issues they care about.

Does anyone living on planet earth really think he could be elected by Republican voters?

So...who are the ones most threatened by it?

Perhaps those who voted Republicans out of office in the November elections because they believed the MSM's reporting that Republicans were corrupt?

Or those who believed George Allen did not deserve to be reelected....ignoring his record and focusing on media spin over a word misspoken into what was believed to be a dead microphone?

Do you want the next POTUS shown around the world posing as Marilyn Monroe or a cabaret dancer?

Before you answer...consider how the other side will use this in a national campaign.

One thing I like about Rudy: there's nothing the Democrats can do to destroy him. By the time the conventions roll around, everyone in America will know that Rudy had a nasty divorce and dressed in drag on national television. The Deomocrats will have no dirty tricks left!

By the way, Duncan Hunter would make a great VP candidate if Rudy is nominated.
