RUDY DRAGGED DOWN
The New York Post ^ | 3/3/2007 | IAN BISHOP

March 3, 2007 -- WASHINGTON - Rudy Giuliani's liberal stance on abortion, guns and gays wasn't his biggest problem yesterday as he addressed a conference of conservative activists - it was his having dressed in drag.

A whisper campaign targeting the front-running GOP White House contender's cross-dressing stunts at gala political dinners in New York and on "Saturday Night Live" was the hot topic among right-leaning activists.

The MSM is getting ready to destroy Rudy, and undermine his support with conservatives as well as politically disengaged moderates who respond to imagery alone.

Watch as Candidate Clinton is given a pass on corruption and history.

Does anyone else remember the $100,000 she made by reading the WS Journal? Would anyone else get a pass on something like that? Not hardly.

Here we go again. Let's take the only person with a chance of beating Hillary and trash him. Brilliant strategy. I hope all of you "Rudy Trashers" apologize to the rest of us when we get Hillary as President.

"Add a few ads from the Right to life, Focus on the Family, and the Gun groups about his position on the issues they care about."

To do this, these groups would have to be:

Suicidally wanting Hitlary to win, and

b.Trying to completely alienate themselves from the likely next President.

And I don't think they are so STUPID so as to do that

And another thing - as a non-profit, Focus on The Family DOES NOT RUN POLITICAL ADS. Dr. Dobson has come out on issues personally but IN HIS PERSONAL capacity, NOT as head of Focus on the Family.

They won't do it until he locks the nomination.

Why not back a conservative like Duncan Hunter, and avoid the problems with Rudy's gun-grabbing, illegal-alien-defending, and threadbare moral values?

He is not a cross-dresser, he had some fun at 2 fund-raisers. So what?

A-freaking-men!

I cannot believe how many people around here actually seem to care about this. Does being a conservative have to make you humorless? If so, you might want to re-think your definition of Conservativism.

Exactly! I guess some people don't get out much.

How many of us, or our parents, have gone to parties, dances, community functions--where there was theme to dress up in costume.

The week we got our class rings in high school, we had "dress-up" week. On Opposite Sex Day, the entire football and baseball teams would come to school dressed as girls. We gals would borrow their sports uniforms for our costumes. It was considered fun! So if one of those guys today wanted to run for president, he would be considered a "cross dresser" because he participated in a school tradition?

I think people should cool their jets on this one. What if it suddenly becomes known that one of the more "Conservative" candidates (Hunter, Thompson, Gingrich etc.), once went to a Halloween party dressed as something other than a manly character. Then what will you do?

Why does wanting a conservative as the GOP nom translate to Hillary being president? The president and GOP foolishly backed Lincoln Chaffee instead of a conservative, and you can see how well THAT turned out.

Cross-dressing is a non-issue for entertainers and comedians, especially if it's their "schtick" -- like Milton Berle or Bugs Bunny :-)

Politicians who want credibility should not be surprised if such behavior makes people wonder about their judgement.

I happen to like a few things about Rudy, particularly his no nonsense attitude towards security.

That said, I can't believe in this day and age anyone ever considering a run for president would have dressed up and acted like that for the camera. I mean, all Dukakis did was put on a helmet, and Kerry dressed in a bunny suit - that was the end for them.

A presidential candidate should be more forward thinking.

The GOA has had a full page of article links slamming John McCain on their website for months!

Do you think they aren't going to draw a quarter Rudy for his far and away worse record on gun issues?

I think you are dreaming if you think he will be given a pass by the issue groups because he has an "R" after his name.

"had some fun"

Rudy's a pretty smart guy, but that was the stupidest thing he's ever done. I support Rudy mainly because he's right on terrorism, taxes, and the economy. And he can win. But some of his stands on social issues stink. And dressing up in drag will hurt him.

He is not a cross-dresser, he had some fun at 2 fund-raisers. So what? Some here carry intolerance to an extreme.

I heard that Ronald Reagan starred in a movie with -- get this -- a monkey. And yet somehow he was elected president twice, by landslides, and became the greatest president of the 20th Century.

I posted this on Ann Coulter's thread, but I think it's worth repeating here:

I don't see much difference between Ann's “faggot” comment and the anti-Rudys obsession with Rudy taking part in a comedy routine for a fundraiser. He was just joking and any clear-minded person knows that, except those people so obsessed with pushing the false notion that Rudy is a homosexual and he was just living it out that day.

Such a disgusting lie isn't different than Ann's “faggot” comment. It isn't true and it reflects terribly bad on Coulter, just as the Rudy haters who keep promoting this despicable lie that Rudy is a pervert - I've read many times comments such as “only women and perverts wear dresses.” If these so-called conservatives can't differentiate between a joke and a lifestyle choice, why would anyone be surprised at Ann Coulter's comment? After all, she is just representing the heart and mind of conservatism!

By the way, this obsession with Rudy's going drag and portraying it as a “perversion” on Rudy's part may be reflective of those whose insecurities and fears are the result of hidden homosexual tendencies. Those who are secure of themselves are not fixated on Rudy's comedy stunt.

Gonna play tennis. Back later.

I wonder if a President Giuliani would even "talk tough" to the President of Mexico concerning our southern border.

You mean like President Bush? (BTW, who is the only Republican President to give blanket amnesty to illegal aliens?)

Sorry, I was there at C-PAC, in the midst of a big crowd listening to the speech. I did NOT get that sense at all---rather, I got the sense, as I posted here ("Front Line Report from C-PAC by LS") (http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1794669/posts) that people expected a great deal more about WoT and security, and he kind of minimized that by clinging to Reagan's mantle.

Rudy's critics who point to a comic appearance in drag really have some screws loose. I suppose Tony Curtis and Jack Lemmon are closet cases, too?

Some who gets that upset at these types of things rmeind me of the retired Marine officer in American Beauty - a guy deeply in denial and frustrated six ways to Sunday. A self loathing closet case, himself.

Last time I checked, the rights guaranteed by our Constitution do not stop with gay people. The unfortunate thing in Rudy's case is his inability to recognize God-given rights to those people yet being formed in their mother's wombs. Any candidate for public office who considers abortion to be legally viable (except in the most extreme cases, if any) should not be elected. We need people in office who respect and defend innocent human life. Rudy doesn't seem to cut it in that regard.

Hey, it's the REAL Rudy showing off his SOCIAL LIBERAL humor!

Maybe next he'll be an aborted fetus in drag.

Why not?

He knows no boundaries to poor taste - NO LIBERAL does.

Better hide your guns too!

I'm waiting for an MSM piece on Rudy that doesn't mention how he's going to sink once GOP learn his positions on social issues. Do the MSM really think we're that stupid that we don't already know where Rudy stands? Oh, wait.
