What happened to the John McCain of the 2000 election? Six and a half more years for senile dementia and 'inside-the-beltway-itis' to get worse.

I like Giuliani's stance on foreign affairs and the war against terrorism, but otherwise, it'd be like nominating Ted Kennedy. Do we really want that?

Brownback came in third just behind Giuliani and Romney with 15%. He is starting to emerge as the alternative conservative candidate.

" Problem is, he forgot the independent voter while he made friends with his enemies from the past." He has never made friends with me. I wouldn't vote for him as dog catcher.

Nah, there's got to be somebody out there in the wilderness who will come forward in the coming months. Someone we can all rally around.
I like Newt a LOT, but the Clintons made mincemeat out of him once and they can do it again.

I thought Romney was very impressive when I saw the thing on C-Span. Rudy was good on a conversational level but more anecdotal, whereas Romney dealt with specifics. Romney's also the only one actually talking about fiscal responsibility, which used to be one of the Republican Party's core beliefs.

it'd be like nominating Ted Kennedy. Do we really want that? It's nothing like nominating Ted Kennedy and everytime you say it, it diminishes your opinion. I'm not saying that to be mean. Again, the war on terror is the biggest issue for me. He's already stated his personal beliefs will not interfere with the law. He's a Constitutionalist. He said he would appoint judges like Alito and Roberts...Do ya think Kennedy would appoint judges like Alito and Roberts? He's not going to take away your guns..he's already said he believes those are State issues. So, he is NOTHING like Ted Kennedy. And yes, I fully intend on voting for him.

When I talk to people about John McCain, I find that many are wondering whatever happened to the John McCain of the 2000 election. He's the same snake in the grass, only older and more unelectable.

he's got the type of persona to do it. he feels it was "taken from him" in 2000, and he had to wait until 2008, and now time/age and circumstances have passed him by.

I wasn't that impressed with Rudy's speech at CPAC; and I was actively listening, trying to pick up something exciting.
It wasn't there. At least for me.
