Thanks for posting this. I have been waiting for the real global scientists to stand up.
I have been flamed before for stating this but it seems self evident to me.
The war between the West and Islam can be boiled down to the War between Reason and Non-Reason. Islamists live in the Dark Ages philosophically/ideologically speaking. The major difference between our two cultures is the complete failure of Islam to adopt the enlightment that science and liberal ideas brought to the West. (and please don't anyone get into any pea-brained semantics about the use of the word 'liberal'- look it up in the dictionary if you don't know what the word means)
The Man-made Global Warming Theory promoted by Oscar Winner Al Gore et al is an attack on Reason because it is an attack on science. Science is not conducted by consensus nor by majority rule nor by political bent.
If we allow the way science is carried out to be subverted to political and ideological motivations then we will eventually be no better than the Islamists. We will have nations full of citizens who have absolutely no clue how the world actually works and scientists who know the truth but are afraid to speak up for fear of being imprisoned or worse. This is no different from being a citizen in a nation ruled by a theology that allows no dissent.
Once science is subverted in this way we will lose our ability to develop further and this will have a massive cascade of consequences.
We can isolate Islam from our own nations quite easily if we so choose. We cannot reverse institutionalised ignorance in the West once it has set in. Reason, in the end, will triumph over Islam by sheer inertia. This assumes we will continue to wield Reason as a weapon. But if we lose Reason, we will lose all and we will be engulfed in the same sea of ignorance in which the world's Muslims are floundering.
