They were no more terrorists than the IRA.
Which IRA?
The pre-1922 IRA or the modern communist movement?
The Irgun wanted a homeland and to defend the JEws in Israel. It expected Great Britain to live up to its obligations regarding the British Mandate for the Creation of a Jewish State in Palestine. Great Britain reneged and instead became complicit in pogroms against Jews and in the increased immigration of Arabs. Britain then preffered to turn Jews away to their deaths rather than live up to their humanitarian obligations.
It was only after this and Arab/Islamist violence that the Irgun began to operate.

That "civilian".

Lord Moyne, who was known to be an anti-Zionist, had been appointed Minister of State for the Middle East, and from his place of residence in Cairo, was responsible for implementing the White Paper policy.

Lehi, which considered Lord Moyne to be responsible for the deportation of the immigrant ships, decided to assassinate him.

Lehi was not the Irgun

Jewish terrorists

Show me the attacks on school children. On pizza parlors.

Every Irgun attack was on a British soldiers and officials.

Like those terrorists, led by George Washington.

Irrespective of his political views, killing an unarmed civilian for political purposes is by definition terrorism. Add to the fact that British support for partition DROPPED after the murder, one begins to question the very wisdom of the act itself.

He was not killed for his political views. He was killed for sending Jews back to Jewish blood drenched Europe and to interment camps.

that British support for partition

British support for partition? LOL.

Britain made a promise decades before that all of mandatory Palestine was to be held in trust for a Jewish Homeland.

The British in Palestine after WWII were in a remarkably similar position to the Americans in Iraq today.

Attacked by all sides.

If attacks on them are legitimate military actions, then so are the attacks on US and coalition forces in Iraq.

Since the British in Palestine were specifically operating under a League of Nations (later UN) mandate, their "occupation" of the country was arguably more legitimate than the American occupation of Iraq.

"He was killed for sending Jews back to Jewish blood drenched Europe and to interment camps."

Nice try.

"According to Yaakov Banai (Mazal) who served as the commander of the fighting unit of Lehi, there were 3 purposes in the assassination :

(1) To show the world that this conflict wasn't between a government and its citizens like Britain tried to show but between citizens and a foreign rule.

(2) To prove that the conflict was between the Jewish People and the British Imperialism.

(3) To take the "War of Liberation" out of the Land of Israel and the Yishuv."

Replace Jewish with Pali and they sound like Hamas clones.

I didn't compare George Washington to a single Arab.

I associated fighters similarly throwing off British tyranny.

As did the IRA for its people. Calling them communists doesn't change the fact that they were no different from the Irgun.

Doesn't contradict anything I wrote.

It was a war against British subrogation and tyranny and Moyne was a huge factor in the British war against the Jews.

He was not a "civilian".

True. The IRA fighting the British were models for the Irgun.

But what they called terror then, was not the barbaric terror today, whose target is innocents.

but it seems that very few people are interested in documenting what actually happened in 1947/48

There could be a lot of reasons for that. One of which is that the Hagannah itself was participating in various reprisals against Arab attacks. They would probably want to distance themselves from appearing as violent as the Irgun. I looked down the page at the site you sent me to and it lists many acts of terror against Jews. It also lists (without fanfare or footnote) "July 23—65 Jews killed when Haganah sinks immigration ship., which is of course the massacre of the Altalena (carrying Jews), by the Hagganah itself. Rabin himself helped in the massacre.

If you want to get into odd sources, read Hecht's book "Perfidy" (maybe you already have). The pre 1948 leadership of Israel, comprised of many Hagannah leaders were resposible for far greater evil than the Irgun. Hard to document as true, but told to Hecht by the people of the time.

The British were only in Palestine under a promise to prepare the land for the Jews.

A promise they broke almost immediately by creating TranJordan.

A promise they then further broke by the "white Paper" which doomed Jews to Hitler's gas chambers.

If you wish to compare the dying deceitful perfidious British to America's attempt to spread Democracy to the subjected, be my guest.

It directly contradicts you and proves your position is rudderless.

You wrote: "He was killed for sending Jews back to Jewish blood drenched Europe and to interment camps."

Odd. The gunman's boss claimed it was for "national liberation." Your assertion to the contrary is a feeble attempt to justify the murder of an unarmed burecrat.

Again, these guys were and are nothing but bloodthirsty killers whose contemporaries are Hamas. Honor them if you must. But those of us on planet earth will hold them with the repungence they so richly deserve.
