Giuliani: Consider More Offshore Oil
Forbes ^ | April 4, 2007 | BRENDAN FARRINGTON/AP

Posted on 04/04/2007 6:11:50 PM PDT by FairOpinion

Republican presidential candidate Rudy Giuliani on Wednesday said everything has to be considered if the United States wants to break its reliance on foreign oil, including more drilling off Florida's coast.

Calling the energy supply a major domestic problem, Giuliani said the nation needs to focus on nuclear power production and renewable energy sources. In the meantime it also needs to see what oil can be tapped, he said.

"Energy independence means everything has to be open for discussion," Giuliani said when asked about offshore drilling. "The idea of having more oil under our command, so to speak, or within our orbit probably for some period of time is going to be important. The ultimate goal, however, should be renewable sources of energy."

This is exactly what we need: drill in ANWR, and off shore and tap our own oil supply, in the meantime build lots and lots of nuclear plants, while exploring alternative sources of energy.

Maybe Rudy could use tax payer money to fund research on how to use the tax payer funded abortion “products” to fuel our cars.

This post has nothing to do with Abortion. Why don’t you debate the issue of energy - Nah! that would take too much effort!

imo, This effectively makes him toast in California and Florida.

BTW, I do agree with the drilling in ANWR and offshore and building a whole new generation of nukes.

This post has nothing to do with Abortion.

Every post with the word Giuliani is about abortion until he drops this absurd notion that he will be the REPUBLICAN nominee for president.

He believes in Tax payer funded abortion so he does not get to talk about energy, it is a nonstarter.

Rudy is not stupid — he understands that today “alternative energy” is only talk, but he does say: “The ultimate goal, however, should be renewable sources of energy.”

This makes sense — the highest priority is to become energy independent and the ONLY way to do that today is by drilling for oil in areas that we control, build nuclear power plants and IF and WHEN “alternative energy” matures, sure, let’s use it too.

France gets 80% of their energy from nuclear power and it’s a small, densely populated country. If they can do it, it’s high time we do the same. We could use nuclear energy for industry and electricity for homes, etc. and only use oil for cars — getting it from domestic production and let’s watch the price of oil plummet and Iran go bankrupt.

Sounds like a good plan.

Giuliani for president in 2008!

Look if you don't like him running don't vote for him. As far as an absurd notion he has every right like everyone else who is running to think that they may be the nominee and who made you dictator as to who can and cannot run over your "one hit wonder" issue?

I will give him credit when it is due. Bush has been trying like hell to make it happen. And I support it 150%.

Rudy supports global warming. So his support of domestic energy drilling is a contradiction.

And supporting "renewable energy" is bogus too, which means Rudy wants more government subsidies to fund ethanol boondoggles.

I wonder how some of these anti-abortion zealots would react if their wife or daughter was brutally raped by a criminal of a different race. Would they want their said wife/daughter to have the baby then?

“True Conservatives will not support a pro-abortion candidate.”

So why do you support Hillary?!

Whether you support global warming or not isn’t the issue. Getting off of our dependence on foreign oil transcends whether you believe in global warming or not. We are too dependent on Arab and Venezuelan oil. Rudy is RIGHT ON with this one.

Rudy supports global warming.

On February 12, 2007, Giuliani said "I do believe there's global warming, yes. The big question has always been how much of it is happening because of natural climate changes and how much of it is happening because of human intervention. The overwhelming number of scientists now believe that there is significant human cause." He said the debate on the existence of global warming "is almost unnecessary ... because we should be dealing with pollution anyway." [1]

So then, you agree with Rudy that Abortion is a Constitutional Right?

until he drops this absurd notion that he will be the REPUBLICAN nominee for president.

It is not an "absurd notion." It is likely.

And you don't have the power to stop him unless you field someone who can get more votes.
