Statement from North Carolina Attorney General Roy Cooper on the Duke University lacrosse rape case. Good afternoon, everyone.

On Jan. 13 of this year, I accepted the request of the Durham district attorney to take over three Durham cases. At the time, I promised a fresh and thorough review of the facts and a decision on the best way to proceed.

“No more criminal proceedings will occur.” I guess that means that neither Nifong nor Crystal Gail Mangum will face charges for thier conduct. Too bad.

It seems like a bad idea to allow the State Supreme Court to remove a prosecutor from a case. That should be the job of the state AG or the Governor.

Liberal groupthink at its finest. No one stopped to think the white kids might be innocent. Every one was afraid of being perceived as racist - which of course is politically incorrect. That's why justice was perverted in this case because people cared more about appearances than doing the right thing.

What’s with Shep? He didn’t believe a rape had occurred, did he?

I believe that they were referring to the defendants, Nifong is in for a lot of trouble, they’re talking disbarment .

I look forward to reading the full report when it comes out, but for now thank God finally these young men are free from legal jeopardy! I can’t imagine what the past year has been like for them and their families.

My guess is everyone will start distancing themselves from Nifong..... even loyal fellow Democrats.... Wonder how much these boys have racked up in charges defending themselves.....

The NC AG will not press charges against “precious”..... I was surprised he said that at this press conference..... he should have made her sweat a while.....

Wow. This is vindication:

“Based on the significant inconsistencies between the evidence and the various accounts given by the accusing witness, we believe these three individuals are innocent of these charges.

“Next week, we’ll be providing a written summary of the important factual findings and some of the specific contradictions that have led us to the conclusion that no attack occurred.”

The attorney general’s office isn’t just dropping the charges, but actually exonerating the accused men.

Oh, I don’t think those charges are ruled out at all. I think he simply means no more criminal proceedings will take place in the cases against the three lacrosse players.

No, he was happy the charges were dropped. He was having a ShepSmith “moment” while slamming Nifong.

You’ll have to tune in to FOX to get the real picture of just what a ShepSmith “moment” is. He had first such “moment” during Katrina coverage if my memory is correct.

“Whorealdo Riviera” was just as good at having such “moments” during Katrina coverage. He should be relegated to opening old vaults, looking for buried treasure. Riviera, that is. I really don’t know what should be done with Shep. Maybe shipped back home to Northern Mississippi for a seance or something.

Thanks for posting.

So, a) the Duke lacrosse team hired strippers, b) one of whom made up a story about being kidnapped & raped, c) the up-for-re-election DA believed her and prosecuted sans evidence, and d) Shep’s nutting out.

Is this a great country or what?

I say lay off Shep - Shep good doggie.
