RAPPERS need to clean up their act ASAP!!
Phrases like "nappy-haired ho" are reserved for persons of low moral character, whatever their race or culture.
Persons with character ... of all races and cultures ... do no use such phrases.
I agree with you. There is something to be said about decency. However, if its O.K. for rappers to use this kind of language and make millions I see no reason a white person can't use the same language or do the blacks own the words and thus free speech belongs only to them?
Don't get me wrong, Imus should not have said what he did. I don't need to repeat all the indecent things many have said (Rosie O'Donnell comes immediately to mind) including blacks who did not lose their jobs. This is just more hype and more division but I guess if that is what the blacks want it will ruin their rap for them or they will have to admit to a double standard and the desire to not fit in. They can't have it both ways. Free speech is for everyone decent or not.

Whites can (and do) use such language.
But I, for example, cannot use such language ... and keep my job.
My employment (like Imus's, I'm sure) ... and, most likely, yours, ... depends upon my conformance to a variety of behavioural standards, ... including how I dress, speak, and use my time on the job.
There are jobs that I could work where I would have more freedom to use the type of language that some rappers (and Imus) have used ... but I probably would be making a great deal less money.
Jobs come with standards of on-the-job behaviour.
Imus's was no different.
