Nifong Issues Apology to Ex-Lacrosse Players

Posted: 2 minutes ago

Durham — The local prosecutor who charged three Duke lacrosse players with raping a stripper apologized Thursday, acknowledging the decision of state prosecutors to dismiss all charges against them was correct.

"To the extent that I made judgments that ultimately proved to be incorrect, I apologize to the three students that were wrongly accused," Durham County District Attorney Mike Nifong said in a statement.

Yea, like to the extent that the entire WORLD has been watching and the English language has created a new phrase "to Nifong someone."

He's a miserable loser of Biblical proportion.

Yes it is true. We discussed it a length last summer. Only the WHITE lacrosse players.

Is a conditional apology still an apology? Doubt it. I wonder how much the Fong paid his lawyers to clear that statement before he made it?

It is true, only Duke LAX players who attended the party was all she had to choose from.

Kinda like playing Pin the Tail on the Defendant.

Not enough. A few L.A.P.D. officers had a scuffle with a drugged out black man a few years ago, and went to prison for “violating his civil rigthts”, Nifong needs a civIl rights criminal prosecution and a LONG time in prison.

Thanks...that’s all I could find too.

This seems worse to me than if he’d said NOTHING ...

Does he think Durham and these young men are going to say OH! Thanks Mike...now we can move forward?

Expect his lawyer went over the statement letter by letter...

What a jackass.

Nifong takes issue with the descriptions of his prosecution as "rogue" and "unchecked." He should be packing his bathrobe for all the visits to his defense attorney's office in Winston Salem in the coming weeks.

Don’t forget that cabal of academic socialists at Duke, too! Or the Duke administration who fired the lacrosse coach...

Thanks for that info, just more sickening aspects of this case.

Which also begs the question, what about the LE involved and also Nifong’s ADA’s?? Wonder if the light of scrutiny will be turned on any of those....

I think if it can be proved he lied to the trial judge and withheld exculpatory evidence from the defense that his immunity would be removed as he acted in a manner outside the scope of his office. it is presumed that prosecutors are required to obey the laws and procedures enacte dby the legislature. They are given wide latitude in dealing with defendants but there are limits that cannot be passed and Nilfong may have passed them.

Buy one for five dollars, get the second of equal or greater value.

This is an “I’m sorry if you were offended” type apology. I can’t wait until the full story comes out.
