Steve Forbes: Right Man for Our Times (Rudy Giuliani)
Forbes ^ | April 23, 2007 | Steve Forbes

Posted on 04/17/2007 6:25:48 PM PDT by FairOpinion

Rudy Giuliani would make a superb president. he combines Reaganesque vision with extraordinary attention to detail. He is strong on national security and also has the principles and policies to strengthen the economy. He is a tax cutter and a foe of the federal income tax's complexity.

He is a fervent free trader, much needed, as global protectionist pressures are rising. He has also demonstrated an antipathy toward unnecessary regulation. If Sarbanes-Oxley hasn't been amended by the time Giuliani takes office, he will push hard to remove its counterproductive elements.

While I disagree with him in certain areas--I am pro-life, and he is pro-choice--he has made it abundantly clear that he would appoint John Roberts/Samuel Alito-type judges to the federal bench.

Giuliani cut or eliminated 23 taxes. The top rate for the city income tax, for instance, was knocked down by 21%. The overall tax burden for a New York City resident went down a remarkable 17%.

During Giuliani's tenure the Big Apple's economy blossomed: 423,000 new jobs were created. More people were moving into the city than leaving it. That he achieved so much going against a generations-old spend-tax-welfare political ethos is astonishing.

Forbes is a political whore. He sold himself pretty cheaply. An endorsement for a lukewarm statement of support for the flat tax, which Giuliani then proceeded to say had been a joke, and he really DOESN’T favor the flat tax.

Great. I wonder how many people AG Giuliani will slaughter ala Waco when he decides someone broke some gun law.

Rush Limbaugh: It’s All About the Clintons and ‘08 (80% chance HRC pres)

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1818569/posts

RUSH: “But we’re gearing up for this election, and if you don’t think that in the Drive-By Media and the Democrat Party, if you don’t think 2008 is all about the Clintons getting back in the White House, you’ve got another thing coming. I’m going to tell you as we sit here today, there is an 80% chance that Hillary Clinton will be the next president of the United States, if you look at the way things are falling out right now. They’re trying to take out Rudy Giuliani.

Whatever it is, they’re doing everything they can to take Rudy out.

But I’m telling you, I know the Clinton machine. “

“and Republicans keep giving him money”

By my math it looks to me most Republicans are still sitting on their money. Rudie is toast. He is a joke of a candidate who will go down in flames. The only question is will it be before or after the convention. But one thing is for sure. He will never be the President.

“Oh, and you are the arbiter who decides who posts here and who doesn’t? Who is a “liberal” and who isn’t?”

Oh no, I don’t decide who’s a liberal and who isn’t, you do. Vote for a liberal—you are one. What’s so hard about that?

“This isn’t your private little tent, get over it. “

No, this is a conservative forum with a mission to elect conservatives who fight for conservative values. Rudy isn’t a conservative, so if anyone is in the wrong tent—well it ain’t me.

“You want to keep losing elections? Keep it up, dividing and excluding until you are meaningless statitistically.”

You think supporting a liberal “republican” is going to win us an election. What a joke! Hillary loves republicans like you, in fact, she even has a letter prepared to send to you after she wins the election...

Dear Central Scrutiniser and all RINO Rudy Supporters,

I want to thank you for your wonderful support in helping to get me elected POTUS. Bill and I are so thrilled to be back in the White House again. Your support for Rudy, and helping him to get nominated, was the key to me winning. Without your help Bill and I would not be here today.

Affectionately Yours,

President Hillary Rodman

P.S. I plan to nominate Rudy to the Supreme Court as soon as there is a vacancy. He will help us tilt the court back in our favor to assure that millions more unborn babies will never see the light of day. After all, it’s every woman’s right!

P.P.S. As you may recall, my campaign slogan was, “We’re Going to Take Things Away From You on Behalf of the Common Good”. ALL YOUR POSSESIONS ARE BELONG TO ME-—YEEHAAAA!

Right. We have won the last five out of seven Presidential terms.

Pickens’s New Commodity: Giuliani
Wall Street Journal ^ | April 18, 2007 |

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1819090/posts

The News: Texas billionaire T. Boone Pickens Jr. emerges as a leading fund raiser for Republican presidential hopeful Rudy Giuliani.

The Upshot: Mr. Giuliani so far has raised more money in this key state than all Democratic and Republican presidential candidates.

See post 127 — T. Boone Pickens is raising funds for Giuliani.

Yes, sure, with Forbes and T. Boone Pickens in his corner, he is toast, sure. (/sarc)

yes, but Reagan won three of those 5 (Bush 41 essentially filling in for what would have been Reagan’s third term). he was a once in a lifetime politician.

and if not for Monica Lewinsky and “Clinton fatigue”, Gore would have won in 2000 and repeated in 2004.

So, Rush says Clintons are powerful and will do all they can to get back into the White House. We all know that.

Rush says (his opinion) that the MSM is doing all they can to take out Rudy. So, what’s the point? I don’t care about Hillary nor do I care about Rudy. If you want a republican to win the White House then vote for Fred Thompson if he gets in. Simple as that. Problem solved.

Rudy is the only one who has a chance against HIllary.

The only thing Fred Thompson is doing, is to help McCain, as some of us said from the very beginning — and if McCain is the nominee, welcome Pres Hillary.

MCCAIN GAIN IN GOP POLL

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1818582/posts

“Rudy Giuliani’s lead in the polls has started slipping, putting struggling Sen. John McCain within striking distance in the Republican presidential race - but only if Fred Thompson or Newt Gingrich jumps in, a new poll shows. “

Then why did so many FREEPERS, all of them living outside of Conn., tell those who live there, to vote for Joe LIEberman? He’s as liberal, if not more so, as Hillary. And no, he isn’t a “good guy”.

These numbers are what they are...terrible. This not just about Rudy....we need new blood badly. The same ol same ol ...will make 06’s spanking seem like a kiss.

Dims lead by five percentage points among men, by fourteen points among women. Nancy Pelosi’s party holds a staggering 30-percentage point lead among voters under 30. Separate surveys have shown that a declining number of Americans now identify themselves as Republicans

“Rudy is the only one who has a chance against HIllary.”

That’s what they used to say about Howard Dean when he was on top of all the polls at one time. That worked out pretty good for him didn’t it? Yehaaaa!

Hey FO, time for me to hit the sack. I know you mean well, but I think you are seriously misguided. Once Rudy plummets in the polls I hope you don’t get too discouraged. Good night FRiend.

That’s why it’s important that Republicans reach out to the Middle.

Here is another poll that should be a wake up call.

Fewer pledge allegiance to the GOP
A poll says 35% of those surveyed identify with Republicans. Public attitudes seem to be drifting toward Democrats’ values.

http://www.latimes.com/news/nationworld/nation/la-na-shift23mar23,0,195804.story?coll=la-home-headlines

The survey, by the nonpartisan Pew Research Center for the People & the Press, found a “dramatic shift” in political party identification since 2002, when Republicans and Democrats were at rough parity. Now, 50% of those surveyed identified with or leaned toward Democrats, whereas 35% aligned with Republicans.

What’s more, the survey found, public attitudes are drifting toward Democrats’ values: Support for government aid to the disadvantaged has grown since the mid-1990s, skepticism about the use of military force has increased and support for traditional family values has decreased.

Maybe it’s gonna come to a point where conservatives will have to leave the party and become a third party. I don’t know what the answer is, but I do know that the socons aren’t gonna stay around if Rudy gets in. From what the Rudybots are telling us, that would be just fine with them. I seriously doubt that Rudy can win without our votes, but he seems perfectly content to try. Let’s see how that works out for you all. Where are you gonna get new blood, and what makes you think they are gonna be any less conservative than we are?

It’s almost midnight here, gotta hit the sack. I’ll get back to you tomorrow.
