Howie Carr live ping. Last night if you were listening to Howie you heard the NBC news cuts from the VT killer as they were broadcast.
In Boston, WTKK 96.9 (home of Mike Barnicle, aren't you excited...) pre-empted "outdated" tape delayed shows from O'Reilly and Ingraham (damn! no Laura) in favor of the MSNBC feed with Chris "Lardball" Matthews, Keith Overbite (I thought his book "Worst Person In The World" was an autobiography?) and Joe Scarborough, etc. With more details and talk about the package NBC got. WRKO was committed to carrying their last Celtics game. Next year, the Larry Bird's Not Coming Through That Door, Fans Network moves to WEEI...

FLASH: RATINGS BLOWOUT FOR NBC NEWS... 7.4 RATING/15 SHARE FOR BRIAN WILLIAMS AND CHO TAPES, NIELSEN OVERNIGHTS SHOW... 6.2/12 FOR ABC ‘WORLD NEWS’... CBS COURIC AT 4.2/8...
Reuters: “”We had planned to speak to some family members of victims this morning but they canceled their appearances because they were very upset with NBC for airing the images,” said NBC “Today” morning program co-host Meredith Vieira.
My email to NBC in its entirety:
“Please do not give that little creep any more publicity.”
Unreal—posthumous fame. It was all about him and never mind the innocent people he killed, in his warped mind (I kinda hate to advocate suicide but my advice to those who do a murder-suicide is
to kill themselves first and thus spare the innocents.)
His memory should be forgotten but those who died will
be long in the memories of all who knew them and it’s
horrible that they didn’t get to live their lives fully,
to bear kids, to perhaps teach or start businesses;
all gone due to a madman.
Anyone else agree with me and Howie that this should not be referred to as a tragedy? it’s much worse, it’s an ATROCITY.
I heard Kitty Carlisle died. Anyone have her in the death pool?
I don’t know...I saw the news about her during yesterday’s show and mentioned it on the thread and also emailed Howie but he didn’t mention it on air, assuming he (or Sandy, who probably checks through the emails) saw the email or heard
about her passing.
Sox just took 4-3 lead in top of 9th
Howie is on WRKO today...but if you listen to WCRN or
WXTK-FM you get the Sox instead...for a little while longer.
And nope Kitty Carlisle Hart was not in the latest death pool
geez I’m “only” 45 and I remember Kitty & TTTT (To Tell
sac fly, Sox up 5-3 I have Howie on radio and Sox on NESN
AWWWw So the Iman won’t be UP for cabbage????
Oh, did you hear that McGreevey will be teaching ethics???
the pic with the two guns looked like the dude in Taxi Driver
Sox win 5-3 so Howie will be back on WCRN and WXTK-FM momentarily...
I had a portable radio tuned to the game and the TV was on NESN; since the NESN broadcast is in HD there’s a delay. So I knew the flyball to J.D. Drew to end the game was coming, even a second or two before the batter hit it.
THURSDAY, APRIL 19
General Richard A. Cody Vice Chief of the United States Army and the 2nd highest ranking army officer in the service will be in Boston and in the studio with Howie.
CHUMP LINE! Call 617-779-3469 and leave Howie, Sandy or Happy a message about today’s stories or anything else buzzing around your bonnet and we may play it back on the air!.
Here’s the McGreevey link.
Boston Radio Watch: “Former WRKO AM 680 morning man Scott Allen Miller will be sitting in for John Gibson on the Fox News Talk network from 6-9pm tomorrow(4/20). Although, the talk network is not heard on any local station, it’s available on satellite services XM and Sirius as well as on-line streaming.”
BRW gives the link.
Fox talkers include Brian and the Judge (heard overnights via WBAL in Baltimore),
Alan Colmes, John Gibson, and Spencer Hughes (remember him?) For some reason I note that “Fox
News Radio”’s site has podcast links to those shows plus O’Reilly’s radio show. But I though BOR’s
show was syndie via Westwood One? (Maybe W1 _syndicates_ him but Fox News/Premiere _produces_ it...?)
ha—according to MLB.com’s “GameDay”, Indians now lead
Yankees 5-2; three run HR by Victor Martinez. (One of
my co-workers at the P.O. is also named Victor Martinez,
who’s a Yankees fan because he grew up in the Bronx.
It’ll be fun poking fun at the fact that “Victor Martinez”
may have beaten his Yanks today!
speaking of Yankees, reminder that WRKO is doing tomorrow
night’s Sox-Yankees game and since there’s a 6:30 pm
pregame, we lose the last half hr of Howie...
>>"It seems to me, Jim McGreevey teaching law and ethics is a little bit like Doctor Kevorkian teaching health maintenance," state Republican chairman Tom Wilson told the newspaper.
Howie used to poke fun at VB by playing the sound cut of VB _quoting_ McGreevey; there was VB saying, "'I am a gay American'"...
perhaps he walked silently and carried a big (s)?tick.
Robert Holloway resigned from St. Anthony of Padua School in this town west of Cleveland after the 14-year-old students and their parents reported the foot-kissing to police in February 2006.
Holloway told authorities he paid each student $15 and kissed their bare feet 50 times each in the school's library and gym to pay off the bet on a student-teacher volleyball game.
"They didn't think he would literally do it," police Sgt. Mark Carpentiere said.
Holloway pleaded no contest Tuesday to sexual imposition and unauthorized use of public property, also a misdemeanor. He faces up to 15 months behind bars when sentenced in June.
"It's not behind me yet," Holloway said as he left court.
Carpentiere said 400 photos depicting adult foot fetish behavior were found on two school computers seized from Holloway's office. The photos depicted the scenarios that he had engaged in with the boys, Carpentiere said. "This appears to be a legitimate sexual fetish that adults are into, which is fine," he said. "The problem here is he was engaging in this activity with juveniles."
(It was only a matter of time--if this hadn't been discovered he probably would have been on "To Catch a Predator". "My, Jimmy, your feet look lovely..." Eww.)
Dick Morris would be proud!!!!
btw for the Sox fans out there, Cle leads NYY 5-2 in the fifth. If the Yanks lose they would be 2 games behind
the Sox, and in third place (Balt. and Tor. tied for
second). Sox face Yanks this weekend and I believe the
Sox have Schilling, Beckett, and Dice K on the mound
(the latter for a Sunday night ESPN game)
I have Mussina on one of my Strat-O-Matic teams
Rasner started for the Yanks today
weekend pitching matchup

Mussina on DL
M. Mussina SP Apr 11, 2007 15-day Strained left hamstring
oops The sox are playin the bluejays right now!
Looks like it's a Lot slower on my poor old dial-up.
I can live without the extra color graphics, just gimmee the facts.
The gameday is better/faster on the MLB site than the version on Yahoo..which tends to freeze up.
I have a cable connection.

Tribe gets another run, scoring thanks to an A-Rod error.

Yeah well, I think it’s funny that a rods been makin Yankee fans eat their words!
It’s the fault of the Knuckleheads that write these laws!
yikes, Yankees now down by 3 (Phelps HR in top of 9th)
and they have the tying run at the plate, in Jeter)
though he’s been hitting a bunch of HRs lately (9 this yr)
But defense a problem.

wild pitch—tying and winning runs move up to second and third
yeah, other than Betancourt, that Indian pen is pretty bad.
A-Rod HRs —Yankess win.
it’s AWFUL tough to win in the majors with a sucky bullpen.
Hi mate; thanks for the Freepmail.
It turns out that she wasn’t on the current list.
Howie just mentioned Tom Poston; he still around?
hmmm I don’t know! He might still be dining in the morning.
Remember him on Newhart; wonder if Larry, Daryl and Daryl are still around.
Didin’t he have a gig on the New Bob Newhart show a few years ago?
That’s right; he played the Handyman (George?).
this Edwards stuff is pretty funny!
I don't watch a lotta TV. I'm pretty much a radio/internet type.
