You notice there was no response. Just another drive-by liberal posting. There are no rational or principled rebuttals to the question.

I think they really believe their plan to liberalize the Republican Party is necessary to save it, and they just can’t understand why conservatives won’t jump on the bandwagon. They have no concept of core values. They honestly believe that party loyalty is a core value. It’s sad.

That's it in a nutshell - no question about it. Good post.

I am strengthened in my stance FOR Fred and TOTALLY against Giuliani by the character of key players.

Almost without exception, people I have come to dislike are Giuliani supporters. People that I have come to consider friends have been joining the Fred bandwagon, or at least are against Giuliani.

The post was disturbing enough.

It was. Idiots won't be missed on this site.

Are you aware of the overwhelming historical unlikelihood of Hillary even getting the nomination, much less winning the election?

Overwhelming historical unlikelihood? Puleeze. I seem to recall others assuring me she'd never become my Senator; too much baggage; knows nothing about NY; voters exhausted with the Clinton scandals; she'll never withstand the tough NY press. Couple that with the thousands of horns honking and thumbs up we received when protesting her throughout the State yet here she is the "annointed" front runner for her party. I leave nothing to chance with the Clintons.

I’ve come late to this discussion.

I disagree with Rudy on many issues, but politics is the art of the possible, not the ideal. you cannot change things without winning elections.

look at the supreme court decision last week upholding the ban on PBA. enough said.

rational discussion of opposing opinions is how progress is made.

If as many accounts have been banned over this as it appears, please close my account as well.

Which makes it all the stranger when they jump on Fred Thompson for supporting Chafee.

I have a clear record as a conservative, both on FR and off.

You, on the other hand, only have one schtick here that I’m aware of...and that is posting the same lame “you’re a dispruptor and a divider” stupidity. Over and over and over and over...

It’s a message board, where people that care deeply can gather. I’ve been here almost from the very beginning. I have had people that if I see their screen name, I know a potential for argument exists.

So if someone is a troll or a disruptor, I don’t care. I don’t think the place is important enough in life’s grand scheme to merit conspiracy theories. There are bitter people who don’t like conservatives. These people just choose to let us hear it.

When I first joined, back in mid 1998, I was amazed to see the writings of people that I wouldn’t consider to be conservative in a million years. They were quite numerous. And it exposed me to the rift between the Republican party and the conservative philosophy. This was the war that Barry Goldwater fought for conservatism in 1964, though but 1980 he was exhausted, frequently found on the dark side, and had passed the mantle to the great Ronald Reagan.

That is the battle we fight. It’s a peaceful one, for our nation and our party.

Thank you for confirming the chain of events.

Her only error was that she misread your post which made the entire exchange nonsensical. Mia felt that the deregulation/S&L issue was complicated enough. Leaving in that confused exchange would only have made it more so. She asked to have them removed in the interest of clarity, not ego.

Also, she wasn’t using her prior posts as ‘citations.’ She was simply putting them out there for us so she would not have to explain her thinking from the beginning. And her position was clearly that it was a THEORY. The title of her prior post tells us as much. (FRED’S GREATEST ROLE? an alternative THEORY of Senator Thompson’s not-yet candidacy)

Thanks again, kevcrom. And thanks for the waiver. ;^)

Do you think I'm going to bow down and accept abortionism, feminism, homosexualism, global warming, illegal alien lawbreakers, gun control, asset forfeiture, socialism, tyranny, totalitarianism, etc, etc, etc, just so some fancy New York liberal lawyer can become president from the Republican party?

I suspect that there's a reason you named the site FreeRepublic.com and not FreeRepublican.com.

The Democratic Party is lead by people who are anything but democrats. Likewise, the Republican Party sometimes forgets it republican principles. I've been one of many screaming that the little "R" behind Giuliani's (or any other liberal's) name might make him a Republican, but it doesn't make him a republican. Why should we support a candidate who's only difference to Hillary Clinton is the particulars on his birth certificate?

I'd rather see the Party lose an election than see it lose its soul.

But ‘principals’ are the art of ‘ideals’.

Not politics.

If you are willing to sacrifice your ‘ideals’ for politics, then what else are you willing to sacrifice?

Some freedom as well?

“Some of those who were zotted didn’t start out as trolls/moles. At least not intentionally. They signed on early, as devout Republicans. They have remained loyal to the party, as they see it. They never had conservative values to begin with. I think it’s been quite a shock to them that the new direction (left) that they’re trying to steer the party, isn’t acceptable here. I think they really believe their plan to liberalize the Republican Party is necessary to save it, and they just can’t understand why conservatives won’t jump on the bandwagon. They have no concept of core values. They honestly believe that party loyalty is a core value. It’s sad.”

Great post BB!

Cincinatus’ Wife, I couldn’t help but think of you as I read this, seriously. Is it possible that this describes you? Nothing wrong with that, but it seems this is something that could be creating a lot of the conflicts between the conservative wing of the republican party and the more moderate to liberal wing. Curious to get your perspective on this.

What say you CW?
