U.S. intelligence agencies, which appeared to be on a death watch for Cuban leader Fidel Castro a few months ago, now believe his health is rebounding and cannot rule out a full return to power, officials said on Tuesday.
May Day celebrations in Havana next week could show just how well the 80-year-old communist leader is recovering from emergency stomach surgery, if Castro appears in public for an annual May 1 parade near his presidential palace, said the officials who spoke on condition of anonymity.
Castro handed over power temporarily to his brother, Raul Castro, last summer and has since been seen only in videotaped footage and in photographs.
"It would be a definite indication that his health is substantially improved if the doctors were willing to allow him to do that," a senior intelligence official said.

Personally, I'm not sure if the Nice Dictator is really making a recovery, or if Al Rooters is trying to blow a "wait and see" position by the CIA into wishful thinking.
I must admit, however, that Old Fuzzy Face looks pretty good in the above photo -- providing it hasn't been doctored.
My uncle used to tell a story about my grandmother (his mother). Once she said, “Only the good die young.” To which my uncle replied, “Then, if that’s true, you will probably live to be a hundred.” Grandma was furious, but...she lived into her 90’s.
I guess Castro will do the same.

It’s that wonderful socialized medical care. If only we could get some of the Hollywood types to go to Cuba to take advantage of the benefits of socialsim.

Castro has been dead politically since the fall of the SU. His philosophy (revolution) is doomed. One day, probably soon, he will physically die, and there will be hope for Cuba.
