Americans Liberals are cringing, cowardly souls more than ready, when we hear the word "terrorism," to suspend our critical capacities, mortgage our futures and jettison our civil liberties and our principles compatriots and culture — all for impossible assurances of safety and political gain. The awful thing is, many of us are obediently conformal to these correct references condescending stereotype.

There, fixed.

Although we haven't had anything exciting happen around here since the shooting, it could happen again. Sorry you don't understand the situation.

In fact, you kind of remind me of Harry Reid ~

LMAO. I know you were trying to insult me rather than answer what I said, but instead you gave me a good laugh, so I have to thank you for that - laughter is good stuff. Because you gave me a good laugh, I'm going to be nice and pretend you answered what I said with an intelligent response and so I'm going to ask you a question.

2004 - Causes of Death (most recent stats released for the US):

Heart disease: 654,092
Cancer: 550,270
Stroke: 150,147
Chronic lower respiratory diseases: 123,884
Accidents: 108,694
Diabetes: 72,815
Alzheimer's disease: 65,829
Influenza/Pneumonia: 61,472
Nephritis, nephrotic syndrome, and nephrosis: 42,762
Septicemia: 33,464

Including September 11, 2001, we've had around 3000 or so Americans in the US die because of terrorism (give or take a few hundred depending on who is doing the counting) since September of 2001.

From 2002 - 2006, we've had 3 million + die from heart disease, 2.5 million + die from cancer, 700,000+ die from strokes, and so on and so forth.

Why should I cower in fear over terrorists that have killed around 3,000 Americans in the past five years, when over 5.5 million Americans have died from heart disease and cancer - two things that run in my family?

My family tree is much more worrisome to me than any terrorists, because the odds of my family's medical history killing me are off the scale compared to terrorists killing me. Nice try though, and again, thanks for the laugh.

The chances of anyone dying from heart disease are controlled by a multiplicity of risk factors ~ genetics, diet, occupation, exercise.

The chances of being murdered by a terrorist increase exponentially with the election of Democrats to the Congress.

At the moment you should be very afraid!

I probably came across as harsh, but you know what? Once you reach a certain age, and you know a lot about your family tree and medical history, certain things start weighing heavily on your mind.

You're probably young, and so you don't think about things like cancer and heart disease, and that's okay - by the time you're my age, they may have some new wonder drugs that can prolong things and/or keep you healthy longer.

Someday when you're older and you are around my age, and you start thinking about death and taking care of your family after you're gone, you're not going to be frightened by the federal government and the Rudy Giuliani's of the world. You're going to be frightened about ending up weighing half of what you weigh now, and needing assistance to get from the bed to the toilet.

Or even worse, you're going to be frightened by what kind of world you are leaving your grandchildren and their grandchildren, and where we stopped being the nation that we once were.

Kind of hope you are really close to the trunk of your family tree. Bye bye.

I understand where you are coming from - as it stands, if we pull out of Iraq, they stop fighting us there, and will try fighting us here.

At that point though, while we can blame Democrats, President Bush will share a tremendous amount of that blame, for failing to secure our borders after 9/11. I've said it many times, My elderly mother, who probably should be using a walker, goes through more security and scrutiny flying from San Antonio or Houston to Dallas than the majority of people crossing our southern border.

That is entirely Bush's fault for leaving us wide open down there.

Blame the Democrats - I'll join you to an extent, but deep down, my gut instinct from my military days says Bush is just setting us up for something bad in the future by leaving our borders open for so long.

We have 40,000+ Iranian nationals in the Washington DC metropolitan area.

Each and every one of them who has a relative still living in Iran is undoubtedly a potential target for blackmail by the Iranian government.

These guys came to the US mostly under the Carter regime.

Last I saw Carter was a Democrat.

This population is a real risk to us all.

Diet, exercise, genes ~ plus occupation. My current occupation is RETIRED.

That's the best way to live longer ~ eat properly; get enough exercise; track down any wayward genes in your tree that should be watched closely. And, most importantly, NO OCCUPATION.

Mine, too. I’ve lost a mother, sister, two nephews to cancer, a father and other relatives to heart disease, I have had two heart attacks (open heart surgery and a stent) and renal failure (on dialysis). I could die in the next two minutes. I’ve trusted God so far and will continue to trust Him, regardless of illness OR attacks from our enemies. He IS in control.
