Putting a whole new accent on politics [Hillary Clinton]
The Chicago Tribune ^ | April 29, 2007 | John Kass

Posted on 04/29/2007 2:21:59 PM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

'I think America is ready for a multilingual president," said Sen. Hillary Clinton (D-Bill) last week, responding to pesky critics who don't like the fact she uses various Southern accents, including Daisy Duke. And now they're pecking at her, mercilessly, the way chickens peck on a hen with a head sore.

I happen to think she's correct. America is ready for a president of multiple accents. President Bush talks cowboy when he wants. So why can't Hillary channel multiple Southern women if she so desires?

And if she wants to slip in and out of Southern and Northern accents like a Long Island mom playing Blanche DuBois at the community theater while her thumb is on the nuclear trigger, well, that's her business.

America might finally be ready for a white Yale Law School graduate from Park Ridge who is fluent in Southern Woman and various dialects, including Granny Clampett and Black Female Preacher. She commands many different voices -- and uses them without blushing -- as you may see for yourself on YouTube.

Years ago, she spoke excellent Tammy Wynette, in defending her Bill from the clutches of Yankee females who tried to take advantage of her man.

Recently, she's been using Black Female Preacher to appeal to black voters, first in Selma, and the other day in Manhattan, speaking to supporters of Rev. Al Sharpton.

"Kentucky Fried Hillary!" yowled the Drudge Report. Clinton was "adopting the Southern-fried lilt of a preacher at times," sniffed The New York Times, not generally the Bible of conservative opinion.

He makes some good points. A GOP candidate would be toast if he did half of what Hillary does.

If she wants to get in good with such an accent, she should do what so many others in the northeast have done. She should move south for a while and become a neo-Confederate. Susan B. Anthony did exactly that with George Train, after her attempts to infiltrate and take over the Republican Party failed.

President Bush has tried to improve his
speech delivery and he’s made great strides
forward since 2000. But when he get excited
about a subject, or begins to feel he’s
losing his train of thought, he reverts to
the Texas twang. It’s not a phoney jump-
shift in the vernacular as Hillary uses it;
Bush’s throw-back to the drawl is unconscious.
Hillary’s southern ‘style’ is deliberate with
a purpose to enthrall her Black audience...
and possibly her husband.

Come to think of it, she did spend a lot of time in Arkansas. With some, the accent can come pretty close. ...only if she can distinguish between “y’all” and “you’uns.”

Good point. There is a difference between lapsing back into the accent you grew up speaking versus affecting the accent of the people you’re in front of. The Hillary accents smack of the phoniness we’ve all come to expect from the Clintons.

From The Catholic Encylopedia:

...Dictatorial, unscrupulous, calculating, and crafty...her policy contributed to the aggravation of discord...

Moreover, being intensely superstitious, she surrounded herself with astrologers. But she was sadly wanting in strong religious faith, and acted...only because in so doing she saw some advantage to her crown.

...Indeed her methods were so essentially egotistical as to border on cynicism...a disciple of Machiavelli...

Condi Rice speaks 5 languages, while Hillary does a fake Southern drawl.....It boggles the mind.....

Hillery is all things to all people. She stated she has Jewish blood in her veins to get the New York Jewish vote, she is married to the first Black president, She is a girl of the south. To get the Hispanic vote it would not surprise me if she said her poor Mexican mother placed her in a basket and she floated down the Rio Grand until rescued by a bunch of Anglo tourists.

And let us all remember that picking up on a regional dialect in a conversation is much different than trying to affect that dialect when delivering a speech.

I was speaking to some Australians about a month ago and had to catch myself before I started doing my faux-Aussie imitation, but there would be no chance at all that I’d start changing my speech pattern if I was simply delivering a scripted and prepared speech to a group of Aussies.

We need to make sure that the pro-Hill-dawg Lefties can’t get away witrh their false analogy.

Perhaps someone in the MSM can actually ask Hill-dawg which languages she’s referring to. Ask her to name them. If she says “Ebonics” she’s toast. If she says something irrelevant like “French” or “German” or “Spanish”, the follow-up can be to ask her what name she calls her fake-South ‘language’. But of course, her hooves will never be held to the fire like a Republican’s feet would.

With her fake southern drawl, Hillary sounds like Gomer Pyle trying to imitate Barney Fife!

Were I black, I might take that as her indication that Ebonese is not English.

I love President Bush, but I think he can use the king’s English that got him invited to stay at Buckinham palace and switches into Texas to appeal to the folks.

Hillary thinks all Americans are stupid and uninformed and this is not so. We have friends who are Democrats - good and decent people. We got together recently for dinner and politics came up. My husband, who is conservative, said “I never want to see such trash as the Clintons in the White House again”. No one argued with him, because as decent American Democrats, they could not.
