Thompson and his campaign werent happy with it. Sorry you are so easily satisfied.

I took hits for my initial assessment of Thompson's speech as kind of long-winded and boring. Now I take hits because I'm "satisifed" with it? Priceless...

You know, I'll beat up on President Bush for his border or spending policies when I'm talking to conservatives. But if a liberal, anti-war puke pipes up and says anything bad about Pres. Bush, I shove it right back down their throat. It's kind of the same way with Thompson and the other conservative candidates. I may offer constructive criticism of something they may do or say as they campaign, but if a Rudytard opens his cakehole to attack them, that's not going to set well with me.

It all goes to intent. When a conservative candidate's supporter offers constructive criticism, it is made in an effort to actually benefit the candidate or simply to discuss how the candidate is doing in hopes that they'll do better. When a Rudytard goes after one of the conservative candidates it is to tear the conservative down to make their liberal pro-abortionist, gun grabbing candidate look better somehow. Or to make the ridiculous claim, as you did in this thread, of "See! Your candidate supports abortion too!! Nyaaahhh!"

It's like if you're worried about your mother's weight and concerned she might develop medical problems and you say, "Mom, I'm worried about your weight." But if someone calls your Mom a "lardass", that's a whole different ball game. Get it?

Now, if it is your intent to promote a liberal candidate by tearing down the conservative candidates, then you're on the wrong website.

Dave S: I noticed you casually skipped over these questions and barbed commentaries. Why? What are you doing on a conservative website if you don’t hold such conservative principles self-evident? What’s the point?

And you’ll be cheering if a liberal beats the conservatives in the primaries, I’m sure. What the **** are you even doing here on this conservative forum, troll?
....
Number one, calling a good conservative a “lazy ass” is not something you should be doing. Fred Thompson is doing precisely what he should be doing. His campaign strategy is sound.

By “you folks”, I assume that you mean “you conservatives.” Putting you outside that group, being a damned liberal or some other freak Losertarian.

I agree. Your Jefferson quote says it all.

I still can't believe that so many 'so-called' conservatives are willing to 'sell their souls',,,along with traditional conservative values and principles,,,,TO ELECT A LIBERAL!!! It's just amazing.

If you want the liberal DREAM of two political parties,,,,,BOTH of the 'left-of-center',,,,

a liberal like JulieAnnie is JUST THE MAN FOR THE JOB!!!!

“Besides, it’s time to get the abortion issue off the table, because abortions will continue no matter who wins in 2008.”

Just because a practice continues does not make it right. Child molestation will likely continue beyond the 2008 election. Does that mean we should not condemn child molestation or those who practice it or support it?

“Why then do hardcore conservatives make up such a small percentage of the voting population?? They only win elections by bringing moderates into the fold.”

Perhaps. But who are the people who work the polls, walk the precincts, make the phone calls, and donate the time and effort needed to win the election?

Answer: Those same hardcore conservatives. The “moderates” are busy watching TV.

But the question raised in the 1992 process is the same one raised in 2008. Bush I was the nominee based on primary voting. What would you have had the GOP do?

Learn from its mistakes and don't lurch leftwards again?

Giuliani : Pro-Choice or Pro-Reality?
Social Right : Pro-Life or Pro-Fantasy?
Please seriously consider the points I’ve outlined. I’m a Milton Friedman war hawk baffled by the social right’s disconnect with reality on the abortion issue and their willingness to waste so much time on it.

I’d like the social right who waste so much energy on this issue to answer their own “hard questions” about the logistics and practicality of an abortion ban :

1) Both Roberts and Alito at their confirmation hearings said Roe was “settled law”. What did they mean? If there were sincere, what does that say for ANY hopes of overturning Roe? (Answer, no hope. Not going to happen. If even the MOST conservative jurists recognize they’re not going to be confirmed unless they state Roe is settled law, forget it!)

2) But say Roe was overturned anyway, what states would then ban abortion?

South Dakota in 2006 had a referendum passed by their legislature go down in flames 56%-44%. If a ban can’t win in conservative South Dakota, whose legislature supported it, where CAN a ban win? Utah?

How far is it from Salt Lake City to Las Vegas?

3) If a state passed a ban, what is the Social Right’s proposed punishment? The death penalty? A state conservative enough to pass a ban, more conservative than South Dakota, probably has the death penalty. Prison? For the woman, the doctor or both? 5 years, 10 years? 20? What type of felony is being committed?

4) How would it look for women or doctors in orange jump suits and leg irons to be marched into prison in Utah when it’s legal in other states? This is such a polarized issue, even in conservative states that passed a ban on abortions, this would create an unbearable firestorm. These women/doctors would be national martyrs, despite being so STUPID as not to get their abortion in the neighboring state where it is legal.

5) What other developed Western democracies, other than Ireland, Poland and Spain ban abortion? It’s even legal in Italy. Interestingly, it’s illegal in Germany, but there is zero enforcement.

This is such a waste of time and energy. Even without Roe, ANYONE in the U.S. will still be able to get an abortion as easily as they do with it.

And TRY enforcing a ban. That would be another Elian Gonzales or Terry Schivao type fiasco waiting to happen. Probably worse, if that’s possible.

The question is not pro-life or pro-choice. It’s pro-reality.

Someday, the Social Right is going to have to get it through their thick skulls it’s NOT going to happen.

Roe will not be overturned, according to no less that Roberts and Alito. Even if it was, NAME the states that will ban it if is. THEN, tell me the prison time you want for it.

Otherwise... shut up.

Don’t waste the GOP and the American electorate’s time with this colossal waste of hot air. That’s all the social right has on this too. Hot air. NAME the states. NAME the prison times. Be honest with the GOP and the American people. Don’t hide sanctimoniously behind an ultrasound, which are irrelavent unless you ARE WILLING to send women and doctors to PRISON. And TELL US the details

Apparently more than your candidate. I doubt you care because you dont care if you win, just that you can stand up and say I'm Ideologically pure. I would think you would care whether a Republican or Democrat nominated Supreme Court nominees but then if you got what you wanted, then what would there be for you to complain about? Heck you might actually be responsible for governing. What a concept.

What they do is keep him in the forefront, nearly to the exclusion of the other Rep candidates......and skew their polls for him

They want hilliary or even obama, and they know perfectly well that rudee (being a liberal and authoritarian/maybe totalitarian) is anathema to many conservatives......so if the media can slyly help to assure that rudee will be the nominee who runs against their REAL candidate, they will (and are) do it, knowing that many conservatives WILL NOT vote for him.

So whats he still doing here? ;^)

Americans who proudly stand up to oppose abortion on demand and defend the unborn, are doing whats right. Pro-lifers are people of conscience with a deep repsect for human life and specifically the unborn life. The unborn child deserves to be respected, not killed off as nothing more then a birth control afterthought.
