I have never read a Neal Boortz column before, and I don’t expect to read one again. Opie and Anthony are in poor taste, but so what? poor taste is not against the law. I don’t have satellite radio, but if I did, no one’s forcing me to listen to these guys. How dare Neal Bootz dictate what I should be listening to? It’s my choice.
HR 3302 bears reading. It’s a real threat.
You must be suffering from oxygen depravation since your head is so far up your @$$.
Nobody is “dictating” what you should be listening to. If HR3302 passes, somebody will.
You sound like you are on cloud 9
Haven’t been listening to as much AM lately. Is anyone speaking about this Bill on the airwaves.
They don’t expect Bush to sign it....before 2008?
First tell us what is and isn't allowed on private channels, then explain what arguments one can(n't) make in defense of it.
Someone is easily threatened.... a bit th-en-th-itive even.
A true libertarian would believe that the satellite radio listeners have the right to petition the owners to fire hosts, and that the hosts have private property rights to fire whomever they please, including Opie and Anthoney.
The exercising of a right does not make one a libertarian.
I was just pointing out the lack of logic in your position. The fact that Boortz wants somebody fired does not mean that he is not a libertarian.
Before I respond, please go back, read my post again, and reformulate your comment. I didn’t say that the exercising of a right makes you a libertairan.
No, but this silly rant shows that he probably doesn’t have very good judgement in other areas as well. Witness his sucking up, if you’ll pardon the pun, to fudge packers. I don’t listen to either him OR O & A.
The Founding Fathers were more than happy to settle affronts with pistols at 20 paces.
Boortz does’nt get it.
Free speech includes speech you don’t like.
Beyond that XM is NOT radio. It’s subscription based content, and they play by the rules that HBO does. If Bill Maher can spew the lies and filth he and his guests do, then O&A are golden, period.
However, this bill DOES need to be squashed and fast. Radio and the media are giving in to the likes of Jesse and Al, and it’s corruptiing the very spirit of our constitution and our civil rights. Another show on Free FM was fired recently for making a joke about asian drivers, despite asian listeners calling in and saying they thought it was funny. Larry the Cable Guy was on the O&A Free FM portion of the show and they are dumping out of any hint of “racial” humor for even HIM. Free FM (CBS) and the rest of the media are censoring beyond what the law dictates, and are acting like fascists when it comes to free speech - and the most disgusting thing is, they are only doing it to appease sponsors who *might* pull out of a show, *if* a minority group might complain.
Censorship for the corporate dollars.
It’s disgusting. I’m embarassed to live in this country. For all of the bleating about the black lists of the past, the libs right now are going past what they term “Mcarthyism” and treading firmly on fascist territory in terms of how heavy handed they are getting with restrint people’s speech - and it’s all for a few dollars more.
It’s GOT to be stopped, it’s madness. The media in this country has lost it’s mind, it started with Imus, and I do NOT want to know where it ends.
I agree with you. Just because we have free speech, it does not mean you can just say what pops into your mind. It would be alot better if people would engage their brain first before they open their mouth
Since broadcasters like Limbaugh and Hannity frequently put callers on the air who disagree with them, I'd like to see what would happen if someone tried to enforce this. Maybe Mark levin would have to do the 'Liberal Mark Levin' show once a week.
NPR, on the other hand, might actually get called on the carpet for being an endless, taxpayer funded source of liberal bs.
Yeah, that'll happen . . .
