Since we can’t give them a little bump from behind to give them the message (dangerous to all), why not legalize a little paint-ball or similar device to give them a little “thump” when they won’t move over?

That’s after the flashing the lights, and the horn, of course....

It is a state law in Texas. They even have signs on the highways that state “Slower Drivers Must Be In The Right Lane”. Doesn’t help though, there are still asshat’s that drive slow in the left lane.

Nothing but trucks should be on the road except 7-8 AM and 5-6 PM. What are you doing out on the road in the daytime? when you’re supposed to be at the office or in class and what are you doing out after 6 PM when you’re supposed to be studying, at least the stock market or the racing forms, but hopefully something that will actually build braincells.

I should move back to TX, then.

It is the law here in GA and there are signs stating as such. Cool thing is the law specifically says under prevailing conditions not up to the speed limit. You will see what I mean shortly when the usual suspects show up.

If you gave time and space for people to check traffic, put on their signal, and change lanes then it would work the way it should.

The left lane isn't your personal speeding lane.

How many road rage deaths will that sticker cause, I wonder. People are absolutely insane with rage on the roads now. More so than even in the 90s.

I actually had a guy start running into my back bumper because of some slight I apparently committed in a parking lot.

My advice is don't make eye contact with any other driver, be courteous, and NEVER give someone that bird.

People are overworked, stressed out, and more likely to snap on the highway than anywhere else.

My fuel economy increases by between 20 and 25 percent when I drive at 55 as opposed to 65+ (that is on highways where the speed limit is 55 - most drivers are driving at 65+ despite the posted 55). Boy, the dirty looks I get as I drive the posted limit. I’m not in that much of a hurry, sorry. I have better things to spend my hard earned dollars on then making a few oil men rich (too bad more people don’t realize this).

“LOL. SOrry....but I got things to do people to see.....I don’t want to waste my life in a car...I can run faster than 55mph”

How much cumulative time in your years of driving do you think you have saved by driving over the speed limit?

Not being a smart*ss, just curious.

Yes, and as we proved before, the 55mph speed limit more than used up the fuel savings in damage to our economy in terms of lost time.

FYI, my *older* car gets better fuel economy at 75 than it does at 55, due to gearing and powerband. A lot of other cars are that way too.

It IS a law in PA. You may only pass in the left lane. I’ve never seen it enforced, but is a law. (I’d love to see these@#$%^^^ NJ drivers all go to jail).

I think everyone should slow down to 55 miles per hour and stop burning fuel at a rate we all can’t afford.

While we're at it, why don't we all just start dressing up in frilly panties and belting out a few Liza Manelli songs while skipping down the sidewalk and spinning colorful parasols over our heads?

Increasingly it’s not the Magoos of the world that are causing the biggest problem, but distracted drivers on their cell phones or Blackberries or hunting for stations on their XM radios, utterly oblivious to what is going on around them.

There are WAY too many drivers who take the "all lanes are created equal" approach.

But seriously, how many people can really be considered good drivers? I tend to drive a little fast...and I have no problem with those who don't want to, as long as they stay in the right lane.

I think you should mind your own business and stay out of the fast lane. I slow down to 55 that adds 10-15 minutes to my commute each way. I purchased the fuel therefore I own the fuel. If I choose to burn my fuel faster than you do, that's my business. Yes you helped pay for the road, so you get one lane and I get one lane. You stay in the slow lane out of my way and we'll all be good.

And in actuality I get better gas mileage at 70 than I do at 55

Get rid of HOV lanes so the people can travel on the roads they paid for with their piece of the taxes they pay.

Amen to that!

A pet peeve of mine are ppl who camp out in the left lane and go the speed limit, or worse, under the speed limit. Two solutions:

1. Sensible speed limits. They should be anywhere from 70-80. Nothing is dumber than a 50 mph speed limit that NO ONE except the odd granny and contrarian follows.

2. Enforcement of slower drivers keep right.

Here’s the rub though. Let’s say you are going 15 MPH over the speed limit in the left lane, there is no one ahead of you. In your rear view mirror you see someone rapidly approaching.

Really, and honestly, do you move over and let the faster vehicle pass or do you think to yourself that you’re going fast enough and the lunatic behind you should either slow down, or find his own way around you?

The only person who drives your speed is you. Then, as George Carlin would say, there are the idiots, (the 49.9% drivers who are slower than you), and the maniacs, (the 49.9% of the drivers that are faster than you).

In my experience, those that complain the most about slower drivers in the left lane are also the least likely to cede the lane when faster traffic comes up behind them.

If all lanes to the right of me are full, I too will stay in the left lane, but I watch my mirrors and if someone is quickly approaching I will move over when it’s safe to do so, and let them by.

I will however say that the ones that burn me up the most are the ones going slower than the flow of traffic in the car pool lane. There you are trapped by a solid double yellow line to your left, a concrete wall to your right, and a car doing 65 right in front of you. Meanwhile, traffic in the other lanes is zippin by at 80-85.
