Well, here’s a drop-dead cinch of a fact:

The problems that have been building up for 25 years, as you accurately point out, won’t be solved by making them worse.

And that is exactly what this legislation will do: make our problems worse.

What too many politicians seem to forget is rule #1 of problem solving:

“When you find yourself in a hole you didn’t want, the first thing you should do is stop digging.”

The GOP legislators, however, confuse “action” with “solutions.” Sometimes, any and all action serves to do nothing but make a bad problem worse, and inaction is better than action.

Screw “prudent”, the time to fight has come!

I’ve been burned so badly (third degree, flames crackling off my backside) by supporting Bush SCOTUS nominations/confirmations that before I brag on ANYONE that a politician named “Bush” has put up on a bench, I’m going to wait a few years and see what said jurist’s track record turns out to really be.

Want to know what makes me say that? I got one word for ya, brother:

“Souter.”

20. Other...The GOP is not conservative, period. On with Hillary. It is either a rocket or a bullet train to socialism. It’s your choice. One takes a little longer than the other.

Find an alternative.

“Duncan Hunter and Tom Tancredo and a fist full of conservatives may scuttle this turd.”

If they do, I believe that Hunter immediately jumps to at least second in all the early states.

"I will not vote for any of the current candidates."

Even as angry and cynical as I feel today, I won't go THAT far! I'm selecting the most consistent, considerate conservative among them and am planning to vote for Duncan Hunter unless Fred Thompson proves to be more electable. I still prefer not to elect someone just based on celebrity after the debacle of Arnoiled Schwartzenrenegger here in CA!!!

You won’t even need to send him a note to encourage him to do so. It’s part of his DNA.

Although I supported him in both presidential elections. George W. Bush has been a big disappointment and he will be largely responsible for the demise of the GOP. He has surrounded himself with incompetent people ie, Gonzalez, Miers, Powell, Rice et. al. He has allowed the RATS and media to constantly defame and ridicule him without ever fighting back. He has failed to protect the borders and is now supporting amnesty for illegals. He had an opportunity to veto McCain Feingold and sat on his hands. He came to the presidency to set a new tone...he should have replaced all US Attorneys (as Clinton did), he should have brought in his own CIA Director and he should have cleaned out all the Clintonites in the government. Unfortunately, the fact that no new terrorist attacks have taken place on our soil and the fact that the economy is rolling will probably go unnoticed in his legacy.

Your post #234 hits more nails on the head than a pneumatic roofing hammer.

God help us.

We must pray like it’s up to God—and WORK like it’s up to us.

In fact, IT IS.

I’ll take “Most of the above” for $200, Alex. And the question is “What other party can win enough elections to control the government?”

Did any of the 'immigration warriors' expect anything different when they stayed home from the polls in 2006 and allowed so many Repubs. to lose to a Democrat, when they knew the Democrat party is so hot to trot for amnesty? Did they expect the remaining Repubs. to have any sort of spine on the issue when they figured the voters wouldn't support them anyway?

Suzi I believe you miss the entire point the border issue should have been resolved on Sept. 12 2001 with the border patrol being supplemented by our armed forces on the border. INS should of been instructed to locate all illegals and deport them and if the official is to lazy to do his job you can him!. The Repubs had a chance when they had Congress and the Presidency. They had no interest but to betray the American People. By the way, You need to eliminate staff in DC also. Ravenstar
