Here in Missouri we had a “perfect storm”of issues that ousted Sen. Jim Talent.

Also on the ballot was that abomination of a embryonic stem cell research bill that was going to bring BILLIONS, I tell you, BILLIONS of research dollars into the state and a “minimum wage” law that brought out large numbers of low-wage workers and union workers.

It had very little, if anything, to do with conservatives staying home.

Where did I say you said it was all worthwhile? Of all the people we lost last November, Rick Santorum was the one that hurt me the most. I didn’t know you could beat something with nothing but it happened, didn’t it? I don’t know who is to blame. And a hundred years from now, who’ll know the difference anyway?

Gee, maybe here?

Casey is a “pro-lifer”, eh? That makes it all worthwhile.

I’m not talking about how other candidates would do, you people always do that. I was responding to your notion that is is totally unacceptable.

I said not only is he acceptable... he is a damn find candidate, for what I care about most. Which is the WoT.

Others can have all the great creds they want, I’m not the one trying to “rule them out” or threaten to take my marbles and go home like the selfish ‘pure’ conservative... you are.

Rudy knows the threat, he has personally faced it and done very well. He knows how to communicate to the media and more importantly to people about the stakes. He can get that message across, and in my view thats the MAIN area of the WoT we are hurting on.

I asked you if you think Rudy would do the same exact things and use the same exact approach to the WoT as hillary or obama (controlled by movon). Your response was “thats a lame talking point” and something about the dems would shred him anyway (not sure why you care since you and you buddies around here have been tryin to do that for the past 4 months)

I’m always about NOT doing the democrat trolls work of eliminate one of our candidates (who just also happens to be a front-runner). You are the one trying to set up this situation where if you don’t get your way, then ‘you quit’ and teach everyone a lesson for not being smart as you by voting 3rd party or staying home.

Is obvious to me that people like you seem to be doing most of the splitting...

It cuts both ways. I voted last fall, and I urged everyone to vote, especially for Rick Santorum.

Sure, the folks who stayed home determined the results of the election. But President Bush and the Republicans in congress are AT LEAST as much responsible for that as the purist conservatives who stayed home or voted third party. What the hell were they thinking of? They offended their base repeatedly in Bush’s second term in office, and then expected them to come out and vote for them?

Way back when, I didn’t vote for Ross Perot either. It was obvious to me at the time that he was in it to help clinton. Why else did he spend all his time in the debates attacking Bush? But that Bush wouldn’t have lost, either, if he hadn’t betrayed his base and made a deal with the Democrats which they, of course, betrayed. “Read my lips”, eh? Yes, people read them. I reluctantly voted for Bush I, but I can’t really blame the people who didn’t.

Rudy knows the threat, he has personally faced it and done very well.

He responded to an attack. What are his bona fides for PREVENTING an attack? His sole action to date was to push Bernie Kerik for the most important anti-terror job in the country.

I hate to tell you this, but most of the damage to Rudy to date has been self-inflicted. Imagine what the Clinton machine will do to him with those hammers once they pick them up.

You got that right, however, there are still plenty of people patting themselves on the back for their “principles.”

Is there anybody on this forum who will admit to “staying home” and not voting?

I am still waiting to find out.

Why then is there always someone with a case of the A$$ spewing this nonsense? Let’s get a count of people here who did not vote. Be honest.

Otherwise - stuff the “it’s their fault for staying home” routine. It is getting tired and old.

Exit polling generally showed a shift in the independent vote to the Dems. Exit pollling, however, can’t prove a negative - that someone stayed home.

Nice try, Bushbot.

The Republicans are in the minority in the Senate because George Allen lost by 9000 votes.

Throughout 2006, the pro-illegal lobby (LaRaza, local hispanic groups, hispanic Virginia Chamber of Commerce, etc.) were active throughout Virginia resgistering hispanic voters, many of them illegal. It’s a dirty little secret that everybody knows about, even the losing politicians, but is afraid to bring up lest they be labeled racist.

At every local festival or outside hispanic mercados you would find their voter registration tables. In spite of the law requiring proof of citizenship, these folks were told to check off the citizenship and Virginia residence block, no questions asked. Many thousands were registered this way, and they were all shepherded to the polls in November. It was many thousands more than the 9000 vote margin that Webb beat Allen by.

Now people like you continue to support the Republican clowns in the Senate who ignored this illegal flood (”we might get them to be Republicans” Karl Rove) who once again want to stab the conservative wing of the Republican party with an amnesty bill that will see the Republicans go the way of the Whigs.

Grow up. Take your whining to McCain, Graham, Hagel, Specter, Kyl and all the other architects of defeat.

“Umm...Senator George Allen (R-Virginia) was defeated by Jim Webb in the 2006 bielection.”

A little remedial comprehensive reading would be helpful.

It's funny how FR works. You voice an opinion. If I disagree, I counter with my opinion.

Can you point me to a source proving your theory? I’m really tired of hearing it and I’ll be glad to be schooled if I’m wrong.

I keep hearing it’s the fault of conservatives for staying home, but the articles I’ve read talk about high voter turnout overall—especially in Virginia.

In Virginia, the Dems. ran a Naval Academy grad. who was in the marines and was Sec. of the Navy for Reagan. He also ran pro-gun.

Allen made gaffes that he couldn’t overcome, plus he was fighting the blanket charges covering all Republicans such as corrupt, scandalous, big spenders.

It was a close race, and you can see how Webb was able to siphon off voters. Now, factor in fraud.

I think a lot of conservatives THREATENED to stay home but sucked it up and voted anyway.
