Republican National Committee Chairman Sen. Mel Martinez rejected the claim that the new immigration bill will anger conservatives and destroy the GOP's chances to win in the 2008 election.

Problem #1 in Republican leadership - Stupidity

Mel Martinez is delusional... if he thinks new Democrat voters will start voting Republican, he's sorely mistaken. All those poor people on the Big Government payroll will never make it into the middle class and they will sure to vote Democrat. No, Mel - the bill before the Senate will destroy what's left of the Republican Party.

It is solely due to this asshat, Martinez, that I finally told the RNC to go pound sand.

I put up with Gillespie (the days of small government is over), held my nose over Mehlman (we need a big tent), but when Dubya forced this open border pos down the RNC's throat and they took it, I said that's it, ta-ta. Call the illegals and Mexico for money.

Exactly. This bill will give the Democrats a permanent built in vote advantage and Martinez is too stupid to see it.

I agree completely. Martinez leading the party, Gonzales leading the Justice department. We are being sold at a bargain price.

I cannot stop my donations, I havent sent any since the Republicans turned Eunuchs.

I will send a donation to the Thompson campaign ,when it opens, but unfortunately that will not stop this bill.

As for saving the GOP this bill will do just the opposite, and like others have said ,maybe they deserve it. Its time for a real Third party if Rudy, McCain and Romney are the best the GOP can offer.

It will save the GOP from my financial support, and it will save them from my votes. If they’re going to support the liberal side of things, then they will be treated as such.

I’ve finally figured it out. It came to me this morning reading all of this claptrap about how good this Immigration bill is for the country, the people and the GOP.

Everyone who voted for this, everyone who helped craft this bill in the Senate that is currently a GOP senator.... is a Democrat party plant.

That’s the only thing that makes sense to me.

Exactly. This bill will give the Democrats a permanent built in vote advantage and Martinez is too stupid to see evil & corrupt to care about it.

There, I fixed it.

It's time for another party to step up to the plate. Stick a fork in the GOP, they're done.

Professional pols must be deliberately isolating themselves from what the American people want.

I still don’t understand how American business, i.e. the employers of illegals, can want to give illegals all those rights. Once that is done, illegals will expect to be treated just as well as American workers. It seems to me that will make them very unattractive as employees.

I know, I know, there I go being logical again.

Stuff like this immigration bill is the reason why people need to get out and vote during the primaries. The Republicans in Pennsylvania nearly canned the man who became Judiciary chairman. Republicans also nearly got rid of Chafee in the primaries. Hell, the moonbats did manage to defeat Lieberman in the primary last year. If you feel a candidate isn’t conservative enough, show them the door.

I’m a Floridian who feels very betrayed. My President, in wartime, came down to Florida and asked me and other Republicans to vote for Mel Martinez. I did. And I am so spitting mad I could scream.

No more money, no more working for the party. I’ll support certain individual candidates who are proven conservatives. I’m only keeping my Republican affiliation because Florida is a closed primary state, but I will only vote for conservatives. The Republican party has made it clear that it doesn’t care about my future nor the future of my children, so I’m done caring about it.

“It acts like a DNC plant.”

Actually he was put in the position at the insistence of Bush.

Maybe Bush is a DNC plant. Sometimes I wonder, given that he’s just about nailed the last nail in the coffin of conservatism.

I still don’t understand how American business, i.e. the employers of illegals, can want to give illegals all those rights. Once that is done, illegals will expect to be treated just as well as American workers. It seems to me that will make them very unattractive as employees.

Why: just like there is a market for cars, vacation homes, and trips to florida...there is a market for labor. Just like supply and demand demand set prices for the three products mentioned, they set wages for labor. When the supply of labor exceeds demand, wages go down. When the demand for labor exceeds supply, wages go up. Illegal immigration and outsourcing are ways for business to try and exempt themselves from the rules of the labor market while trying to keep the rules of the goods markets intact.

Immigration, as such, is a huge win for corporations. If the population of America is 400 million instead of 300 million, sheer numbers will drive down wages (based on increased supply) and drive up demand. Demographically, this translates into an increased profit margiin.

They don't particularly care if they speak English, Spanish, or Arabic.

So who picked this turkey to run the GOP. And can we fire whoever that was?
