Sessions calls the key players in this bill “the Masters of the Universe, who are listening to everyone EXCEPT the American people.”

"Should be introduced as a NEW BILL."

"Find out what this REALLY means to our economy and working people."

"85 other Senators here who have NO IDEA what's in it.No way they could"

It causes one to wonder what the Bush Admin now owes to Sens. Reid and Kennedy to get this bill pushed through.

Something smacks, considering the vitriol Kennedy and Reid have spewed at GWBush for the last 6 years, and now all three of them are pushing this bill with every fiber of their being.

Not sure where you heard about Hugh, but Hewitt has been against this since the moment the compromise was announced.

This article showed up Friday [note that this was based on available info at the time and may or may not be the actual content of the secret bill, since that bill was released only in 'draft' form late Saturday night]:

The alien and their families who file applications for amnesty shall not be detained, determined inadmissible, deported, or removed until their applications are finally adjudicated, unless they commit a future act that renders them ineligible with amnesty. With tens of millions of applications, this amnesty, this provision essentially guarantees an illegal alien years of protection in the United States, even if they do not qualify for the amnesty." -- Jeff Sessions 2) Consultations Between United States And Mexican Authorities At...

They are voting on LAST YEAR’S BILL? and then sliding this one right in under it???

This is how they are getting around a month of committee hearings. I think.

So much for the most "open congress ever". If Frist had ever tried something like this he would have been crucified for it, and rightly so.

I just called Sen Sessions DC office to express my admiration and respect for this patriot. He deserves our total respect. I only wish I could trade one of my senators for this man. I was on hold for a considerable period of time because so many other people were calling to express their appreciation.

Thanks for much for the live thread. I’m listening to Senator Sessions making a ton of sense right now. If only he can convince just a few of these jerks to hold off on ramming The Thing That Would Not Die through...

Only and I mean ONLY because his boy Romney came out against it. Hugh has been extremely rude to Tancredo for focusing on Border enforcement and no amnesty. Hugh likes the amnesty part of the bill and always has.

When the bill last year was in debate, I ran across a comment in some thread or forum that the WH and Senate Dems had reached a deal, if the bill last year didn’t pass.

That deal was to grant green cards to the illegals, thus, by default, making them legal.

I got skewered, especially by the Bushbots, for posting that.

Well, the Z-Visa seems to be almost that concept. As soon as this bill is signed, the illegals get status. Tony Snow called it being regularized. Call it whatever, it is de facto amnesty.

Once they are all legalized, won’t most law enforcement then be a matter for local and State LEOs to handle?

Hmmmmmmmm???????????
