>Not in the least. I support Fred Thompson and am aware of his shortcomings.<

Shortcomings - the very worst one of which is Globalism. See where Globalism has brought us under W, and where we could be going under Thompson - down the tube altogether! The drama queen with the big fat cigar, down home take off “Will Rogers” routine is already a great bore. Charm should not replace competence. Nor should his flowery words create a hiding place for his lack of commitment. Thompson’s close McCain association doesn’t raise any red flags? Those stars in your eyes are absolutely blinding.

You’ve GOT to be kidding me! Globalist? Have you read or listened to ONE SINGLE THING Fred has been saying?

McCain in fact said he was “disappointed” in Fred for his remarks against the immigration bill.

Talk about lies? Might wanna look in the mirror.

"I wish the American people would do the same to our legislators who refuse to listen to us. We need to figure out a way to quietly give them a sincere warning."

I have the feeling that our current crop of traitors in the Senate would hardly notice anything quiet or sincere.

Yeah, knock it off B4 : )

Nobody beats Fred fiscally.

- While in the Senate, he waged total war against government waste and fraud. Just one of many glowing reports from Citizens Against Government Waste:

CAGW PRAISES THOMPSON REPORT ON FEDERAL MISMANAGEMENT

Key excerpt: “Once again, Chairman Thompson deserves great credit for exposing the pervasive problems in the federal government,” CAGW President Tom Schatz said. “As CAGW has documented repeatedly, many federal agencies and programs are duplicative, unaccountable, nontransparent, get poor results, lose money, are mismanaged, and outdated. These problems have persisted for decades, and as this report indicates, are growing worse and require rapid action.”

http://www.cagw.org/site/PageServer?pagename=news_NewsRelease_06052001b

-He also ferreted out and brought to light federal abuses of power:

KEEPING BIG BROTHER FROM WATCHING YOU: PRIVACY IN THE INTERNET AGE

Key excerpt: This report brings to light one of Orwell’s worst fears—not only are government agencies sharing private, personal information about individual citizens and failing to inform them, but they are also overstepping checks and balances designed to prevent such abuses from occurring. Governmental Affairs Committee Chairman Fred Thompson (R-Tenn.) emphasized that the government was technologically challenged when he said that “the Administration is not enforcing the laws that Congress passed” and that the federal government’s underlying infrastructure is “riddled with vulnerabilities which represent severe security flaws and risks to our national security, public safety, and personal privacy.”

- He doggedly held the line on taxes; as one example, he was one of only 36 congress members and only 9 senators to receive the coveted “Taxpayers’ Friend” award from the National Taxpayers Union:

CITIZEN GROUP SALUTES “TAXPAYERS’ FRIENDS” IN CONGRESS: JUST 36 LAWMAKERS RECEIVE AWARDS FOR SCORES ON NTU’S 2002 RATING

Key excerpt: “Not all Members of Congress fought day in and day out during 2002 for the principle of limited government that is the cornerstone of our country’s greatness,” said NTU President John Berthoud. “Fortunately, at least 36 allies in Congress demonstrated an unwavering commitment to taxpayers. We are proud to honor this fiscal ‘coalition of the willing.’”

http://www.ntu.org/main/press_release.php?PressID=113&org_name=NTU

- He has been a tireless champion of federalism/states’ rights:

THOMPSON EARNS “RESTORING THE BALANCE” AWARD FROM NATIONAL CONFERENCE OF STATE LEGISLATURES

Key excerpt: WASHINGTON - U.S. Senator Fred Thompson (R-TN), Chairman of the Senate Committee on Governmental Affairs, has been selected to receive the 2000 “Restoring the Balance Award,” presented by the National Conference of State Legislatures (NCSL). The award, given annually to national policymakers committed to federalism and its impact on issues involving state legislators, was presented to Thompson last night at the NCSL’s Leader to Leader Dinner in Washington.

-snip of complimentary quote about Fred just for brevity’s sake-

Thompson’s dedication to the principles of federalism and sound government policy has resulted in the Committee’s advancement of the Federalism Accountability Act, and Senate passage of the Regulatory Right to Know Act, the Federal Financial Information Assistance Management Improvement Act, the Truth in Regulating Act, and revision of the Unfunded Mandates Reform Act.

Duncan Hunter will not be winning the GOP nomination any time soon. He's a good man, but your frustration over his 1% candidacy is no justification for foam-speckled attack rants on other conservatives.

You need to pick the best conservative who can win--the nomination--in 2008.

Your hatred for Fred is not rooted in reality. Just so you know, your constant bashing of Fred is one reason I’ve crossed Hunter off my list of potential candidates should Fred decide not to run. If you represent his supporters I want nothing to do with him.

I have this funny feeling that this current crop of traitors in the Senate wouldn’t quite know how to respond to 50,000 armed Americans standing quietly outside the Senate.

They would very likely make the mistake of calling for the National Guard troops that are about to be royally screwed by pending legislation.\

Imagine the shock when the troops came and stood beside us. LOL

You think you’ve seen flipping on issues going on. I think a program like this would result in some serious decision making all the way down to your local Dept of Motor Vehicles.

I tend to get emotional about things such as watching my red, white and blue flag losing it’s stars and stripes. Yeah, I hate UN blue coloring.

If you’ve missed the obvious, I can’t explain it further. The worst thing Ron Paul did was hand over the last debate to Rudy.

Oh no, I have good grasp of the obvious. Legislation (good/bad/indifferent) grows government, bad. When your colleagues are no better than common criminals, endorsement, bad. Ron Paul made rudyputin look like a fool, but that's a gift that keeps on giving. Blackbird.

Rudy won the debate because of Paul. The audience loved RUDY when he went after Paul. Interpret it anyway you like, that’s the facts of it.

OK, now I get it. you're a rudyputin fan, no wonder your first comment to me was to question my intelligence. I also understand why you choose to bash a Conservative running for President. See, I told you I had a good grasp of the obvious. Blackbird.

“Though Paul courageously stood his ground, the Giuliani bristle became the debate’s most talked-about moment. Advantage: Giuliani.”

Giulani's advantage was over a straw man. He did not look good interrupting Paul to attack a straw man. He looked rude and foolish.
