Edwards: Move Past 'War on Terror' May 23 11:36 AM US/Eastern By BETH FOUHY

Associated Press Writer NEW YORK (AP) - Democrat John Edwards Wednesday repudiated the notion that there is a "global war on terror," calling it an ideological doctrine advanced by the Bush administration that has strained American military resources and emboldened terrorists.

In a defense policy speech he planned to deliver at the Council on Foreign Relations, Edwards called the war on terror a "bumper sticker" slogan Bush had used to justify everything from abuses at the Abu Ghraib prison to the invasion of Iraq.

"We need a post-Bush, post-9/11, post-Iraq military that is mission focused on protecting Americans from 21st century threats, not misused for discredited ideological purposes," Edwards said in remarks prepared for delivery. "By framing this as a war, we have walked right into the trap the terrorists have set—that we are engaged in some kind of clash of civilizations and a war on Islam."

Presumably, women vote for men who are attractive...we’re all such airheads — we don’t pay attention to the candidate’s position on the issues. I remember there was a poll of women done around the time Clinton was running for his second term that was alleged to support that theory, and I just got so mad, I wanted to scream. I did not want to be lumped in with any women dumb enough to vote for a man only because of his looks. Besides, I didn’t find Clinton all that good looking anyway. And I feel the same about Edwards — maybe he does attract some women, but he does nothing for me. Every time he opens his mouth or does something stupid like this, he becomes even less attractive.

There was a documentary about 9/11 on the National Geographic channel a couple of evenings ago. I had not seen the images from that day anywhere on TV for so long that I was actually quite stunned to see them again.

***

I have some of the images from that day on my computer. I view them every day before work. I do so to remind myself who the enemy is and what we are fighting for. It’s too bad viewing these images is not required — particularly for the moonbats and dimwits out there who just don’t get it. But then again, I suspect that it wouldn’t help — these idiots would still want to kumbaya with our enemies and blame the U.S. for 9/11...and just about every other ill in the world for that matter.

If you ask me, Edwards silly pronouncement only proves Bush’s success so far because there hasn’t been a terrorist attack on the US or any of it’s interests since 9/11 and many Americans have actually become complacent. If we weren’t in Afghanistan and Iraq draining terrorist resources there would have been more attacks on US soil. The constantly rising stock market also states that investors have confidence in the stability of Bush’s actions. The only people who don’t have a clue are the leftards and their media allies. And these pinheads want to get out of Iraq. History will prove that Bush did make the right choices.

"Besides, I didn’t find Clinton all that good looking anyway."

Charisma is more about "presence" or "vibes" or "energy" than good looks alone, but I didn't think Clinton had much of those qualities, either. Maybe just a little, just a little, of the Elvis thing with the grin, but that's about it. If you want to see someone with charisma, listen to Farrakhan or, even Jesse Jackson. (Of course, I think Farrakhan's a nut, and Jackson's a fraud, but even a nut and a fraud can have charisma.)

In the Mideast Breck Boy wouldn't last long before he had a boyfriend! Politicians today want us to believe in them more than we believe in God.That is why abortion and homosexuality in your face does not bother them.

People like Edwards will say anything to get the power they need to make themselves feel good.

He's the very model of a Modern American Attorney. He will say anything to win.

I wonder if he believes anything. How the heck would we know?

My favorite Hank Hill quote: “I don’t mind body piercings. They let you know who the weirdos are without having to ask.”

I agree. Whatever else you want to say about him (and please don't bring up illegal immigration because most of us agree he's really screwed the pooch on that one), George Bush has been right on the money when it comes to the war against radical Islam, just as he was right about tax cuts boosting the economy.

I imagine the Edwards body piercing would look something like this:

Even in the days just after 9/11, we all knew, deep down, that this would happen. We all knew we would eventually forget and slip back into passiveness and relativism. We told ourselves not to, but we knew we would.

I went into health food store recently in west Texas and the owner, who seemed like an intelligent man at first, saw the FDNY cap that I purchased on our recent trip to NYC and asked me if we visited the WTC site. When I said yes, he then starting telling me about how WTC 7 was taken down with explosives by the Bush administration. When I told him I knew that to be untrue he walked away mad.

These “Truthers” are popping up everywhere. It’s like the “Invasion of the Body Snatchers”!

Stupid little prick.
He may just be the most dangerous candidate, based on his lack of reality on almost every issue.
He makes Hillary look stable.

Edwards is right!!!

We need to stop worrying about terrorists who want to kill us and instead launch a NEW Global war on STUPID LAWYERS!!

What I want to know is how he keeps his hair looking so nice with his head so far up his rear end????

It’s that $400 haircut you know — even with his head up his rear end, his hair looks good. :)

What a fricking idiot. Can you imagine someone saying during WWII that we should move past our war on Germany and Japan? Just get on with more important things, carbon offsets I suppose, and forget about the war with Germany and Japan.
